Li ivf question

Hi ladies. Do all inseminations (iui) take place at the Melville location only?

Is it true that nurses do inseminations?

IF it's true that you have to go to Melville for Iui, how long are you there from start to finish?

Trying to decide bt them and NSUH :) thanks!

I go to LI IVF and have had 3 IUI's, all of them were done in the Melville office. All 3 times a nurse did the actual procedure. I was there about an hour for each IUI.

Thank you! I use the lake success office but was wondering how much of a pain it would be to get to Melville each month.

Does anyone know if doctors do inseminations at NSUH? Not that it necessarily matters. I know it is not a high tech procedure.

Also, I heard that NSUH has pm monitoring hours as we'll? Is that true?

Doctor's do IUI's at North Shore. They also have later in the afternoon hours but I am not sure how late. The few IUI's I did were in the morning or on the weekend.

I started at nsuh and switched to Li Ivf. Iui are much easier at Li Ivf. They take sperm, and do iui within hour.
North shore - u drop in am and go back later.
Li Ivf, statistically, their lab is better. They openly told me it's not good practice to keep washed sperm in an incubator like NS does.
- so basically - I'd get to Melville at 8, be done by 9.
NS - drop off at 8, go back anywhere between 10 and 1.
I was hesitant at first to switch bc I wouldn't see a dr everytime at Li Ivf but the drs are still in charge. No decision was made without my dr, and I believe I got even better care there.

Thank you all for the great feedback.

I have little kids at home and my husband works so nS's arrangement was more appealing to me. He could drop off his sample on the way to work, and I could come in later at a specified time, when I could make sure I had a sitter. Do they work with you? Like if they say come back at 12, and I had to pick my kid up at camp?

It is very troubling though to hear that keeping the sperm in an incubator is not a universally accepted practice :/

I can't move forward for three months because I had a live vaccine recently, but I started the testing at li ivf. I liked everyone but didn't see how I would be able to swing going to Melville every month. I had a consult at nsuh last night and thinking if switching for the convenience.

If I make a mistake, can I go back to the original clinic, does anyone know?

I have a lot to think about!

Yes. There was always waiting past appt time at north shore.

li ivf melville was pretty quick for us, too. We got there at 7 but had to defrost our sperm so we were done around 830.

I had gone to LI IVF and have had 6IUI's, all of them were done in the Melville office. (Currently have a 3 month old due to Dr brenner)

The nurses did the actual procedure. I was there about 2 hours or so for each IUI.

That includes your DH time and yours

Had 4 IUI's at LIIVF Melville -- all done by nurses. I usually bring DH's specimen with me due to his work schedule and was out of the office in anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

I went to LIIVF two years ago while they were merging with east coast fertility. I felt that the merge was messy and I wasn't thrilled. Now I'm back and things seem to have really ironed themselves out. I'm very happy with the organization and care. Don't have experience with NS but I hope that helps. And to answer your questions - yes IUI done in melville and the visit was fairly quick, about an hour.
