potty training don't think she is ready - UPDATE
Dd is 27 months trying to potty train 3 day method. She continues to pee and poop in panties sometimes not realizing it happen.. it is only day one but I thought she was ready. Been going on potty randomly for 3 months when iasked if she needed to. She has had 5 accidents since 9 am . Put her in pull ups for nap. Is she not ready? Help

I would say it sounds like she isnt ready. DS has been going on the potty since 23 months and we tried to train him twice (not as aggressively as the 3 day method) and he was NOT ready at all. He would just have a bunch of accidents. We waited until this summer (he probably would have been ready 1-2 months ago but we waited for other timing reasons) and he trained easily. He is still having 1 accident a day at camp which is really frustrating but no accidents at home, my parents house or on the go. And he lets us know when he needs to go. It seriously night and day compared with when we tried at ~27 months (DS is now 34 months). No rush IMO

Don't give up its only day one. Throw in the towel if you see no improvement after day five or so. All my kids were terrible on day one.

Honestly potty training is really hard and you have to go by when they are ready. Don't push it if she's not ready. She'll come around. My dd was finally trained at 3 years old!!!!!!!!! She was just not ready before that. She knew exactly what she should do and understood the whole concept of going on the potty, but she was just so resitant. You can't force a child that isn't ready. Plus in the grand scheme of things; it's not all that important. It's not like she will still be wearing diapers when she's 5!! Kwim. Give it time. There's really no rush!

I'm sorry, but I disagree. You might not think they are ready, but they can absolutely be trained before they are "ready." YOU need to be ready to commit to it.
DO NOT GIVE UP ON DAY 1! It is called the 3 day method because it takes 3 days! Day 1 we had pee everywhere, Day 2 a little less, and Day 3 hardly any. At 25 months, DD was fully trained by day 5.

I would ditch the pull ups. I made a big deal out of the. Did you get her special underwear?

I agree with this. My kids didn't show overt signs of being ready. I thought for sure two of my kids were not ready on day 2, but then it just clicked after that.

Totally agree....I potty trained two dd's using the three day method and by day three or four they caught on to it and there wasn't even half the mess like there was on day one ....they were daytime trained by the end of wk one and fully trained nighttime included in a month....just bc there is a huge mess doesn't mean the child isn't ready to be potty trained....potty training is A LOT of wk even when the kid is blatantly ready....but like the poster I quoted above, YOU have to be ready to throw out the diapers ....no pull ups .....special training underwear only for nighttime which unlike pull-ups holds a minimal amount of pee which teaches the child to wake up bc they feel uncomfortable .....be ready to stay home for a few days so you can be consistent and not send mixed messages like "pull ups when out and about and underwear only home" ....mixed messages cause inconsistency and makes potty training a long drawn out process which doesn't have to be ....good luck stick to it and guaranteed your lo will be potty trained latest by the end of the wk

Well, day 2 is better. Yesterday was just pee and poop ALLLLLLL day. Guess I wasn't ready.
Today, she is better. Woke up, put on potty and pooped like a champ. So far no accidents. I am off for several days as well as DH, so we are dedicated. If it seems like she doesn't get it now, we will try next month.
I didn't know there were special nightime underwhere which holds liquid. Where can I get those. BRU?
Thanks everyone for your input. THis is our first baby so we have NO CLUE what we are doing. If it wasn't for this board, I would be lost.

The description reads that they hold like a diaper or pull up but honestly they don't ....so keep that in mind that you will have to do nighttime cleanup (sheets etc) so make sure u have a mattress protector so that the pee doesn't seep through to the mattress .....eventually they will be uncomfortable from the wetness and they won't pee as much and cleanup won't be an issue

I totally (respectfully) disagree with you both. There are some kids (mine included) that really can't be forced into potty training. I tried the three day method when she was 25 months and it was an epic disaster. She held her pee for over 8 hrs the first day and then again the second and third day. To the point that she was writhing around in pain on the floor. She wouldn't nap or go to bed because she was so anxious about wetting her pants. On the 4th day I gave in. It took weeks for her to be her happy self again. Flash forward to 2 months shy of her third birthday and she said I want to use the potty now and a day later was fully trained. Never wore a pull up at night and it was easy! The three day method doesn't work for everyone, even if you follow it completely. And even if the parent is very ready (I WAS!).
It seems like the OP had a far better 2nd day so maybe she is ready, but to just say that every kid is ready if you are, just isn't true.

She may not be ready.
I tried the whole potty training thing with DS before he was 3 - he showed all the readiness signs, except, he was failing miserably.
I honestly let it go completely. Put him back in diapers, and didn't try again until, right after his 3rd birthday, HE told me he wanted to get rid of his diapers and wear big boy underwear. And then he went straight to underwear through the night a week or 2 after.
Kids know when they are ready!
