One night getaway?
It is my 10 year anniversary and my husband and I have not been away together since we had kids (7 years) we were able to get someone to watch 3 kids for one night (no more) and trying to find nice place to go that can drive too. Don't want to go to the city. Thanks!
Where should we go?
TIA

Re: One night getaway?
Shelter Island, Block Island, Montauk.
I also loved Cape May, NJ.
I also loved The Woolverton Inn which is located in New Hope, PA. That place was a rec from fellow LIFers :)

One night getaway?
Mystic! The town is great for during the day and it is a short drive to Mohegan Sun for nightlife!

Re: One night getaway?
For one night, I would try to stay pretty local (so you don't spend a lot of your getaway driving).
I did Greenport for my anniversary a couple of years ago. We stayed at The Harborfront Inn.... it was nice. There are lots of nice restaurants for dinner (and cute brunch places) in Greenport, as well as Claudio's for maybe a more casual lunch outdoors. When we went, we also hit the wineries, since you are right near the wine trail. It was a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary.
If you want a little more nightlife, I would go somewhere like Atlantic City and stay someplace where it's pretty much "one stop shopping." So the Tropicana, for example, has lots of bars/restaurants/nightlife, as well as gambling, shopping, a nice spa. Mohegan Sun would be the same idea.
I've also done New Hope, PA/Lambertsville, NJ (they are separated by a bridge you can walk over) for a long weekend with DH. It's relaxing... nice B & Bs, restaurants, lots of antique stores. But would definitely be more laid back.

Re: One night getaway?
For one of our anniversaries we stayed at the East Wind and booked spa packages. We had a nice dinner at the restaurant there and it was only a half hour drive.

Re: One night getaway?
Just keep in mind, places like Greenport, Montauk, etc. will most likely have 2/3 night minimums this time of year especially over a weekend.

YES! DH and I just did this twice within the last few months. They have a groupon right now and it is perfect. We spent the day in Greenport- went to the brewery, walked around and went to a nice lunch. Then back to the hotel. Great bar & pool. Then had a delicious dinner outside. Beds aren't that comfy, I'd recommend bringing pillows and maybe even a blanket but I loved everythign else. Perfect quick getaway.

I agree w/ the Harborfront Inn in Greenport. DH and I have been going for years, it's one of our favorite places. -
And close enough that you're not wasting a ton of time in the car.

We are staying at the Harborfront. Do they provide parking?
