I can't fit all of this in my coat closet. thinking of getting some sort of storage / hook unit to put near the front door for all of this Crap!
any Ideas/ photos? Thanks !

we have something very similar to #1 in the picture below! I got it at JC Penney years ago. I know they sell them in a bunch of places! But I love it! The top for keys and other junk like gloves and hats in the winter and the lower ones are for all our shoes!

Re: I need entry way storage ideas
There is an inexpensive line at HD from Martha Stewart. I have the cubby unit and it has changed the whole organization of the house! I love it!
They have them in all different heights and they have the cubby inserts like in the picture or the ones that would hold magazines. I got a few of those for the school year that I plan on putting school books in. I use one for hats, one for gloves, my husband puts photo equipment in one. I keep one or two empty on the bottom for boots or crocs for karate. I put the swim bag in an empty one also.

We have something similar to number 2 above. And while it looks adorable in the picture, in real life its still a freaking mess. There's just no storage rack that has the capability to store all of the things they come home from school with. My kids are 11 and 14, their backpacks are really heavy. One has a trapper keeper aside from her backpack, a clarinet that goes back and forth every day and a gazillion pairs of shoes (gym clothes/shoes). The other one also has a large instrument case and a heavy backpack. And in winter it just looks worse because of the heavy coats, boots, gloves, hats.
I'm considering converting my closet into a walk in storage rack, so that I can just shut the door and not see it constantly.

We are renovating and are converting the walk in coat closet into a mudroom. I have 4 dc and a tiny foyer and I just can't deal with the sea of stuff that I have to wade through every time I walk into my apartment. The closet as it is is useless because little kids (or big kids, or my dh) can't really be expected to put their stuff on hangers. Even if it is a mess, at least the mess won't be in the foyer anymore.

I would look for a nice big storage bench this way things are out of site. I think the ones with hooks always look great in ads but I know it would end up a mess and would make me crazy. Maybe you can get or modify a storage bench to have dividers so each kid can have one designated spot for their bags. I would add hooks inside a closet at their height so they can hang up coats where they can reach them.

I'm in the same boat. Probably going to wind up having someone build something because I can't find one that has everything I want in it
Maybe I should just walk in from the garage and dump everything there lol

Love these! We have something similar to number three...we ordered the shelf from Etsy and have a small table underneath.
I think #3 is perfect for what you need and I've seen pieces like it at Home Depot and Target.

I think no matter what you get with all the things you mentioned it will still look cluttered. Any way you can put rules on what has to go back to their room to minimize the amount that stays by the door.
Growing up we were only allowed one pair of shoes and a coat/jacket out. Everything else needed to be put away.

Re: I need entry way storage ideas
I have this from Walmart. I liked that it had a small footprint because it fits in my mudroom perfectly and has 12 hooks -- we use every single one!

Re: I need entry way storage ideas
I converted my hall closet using those metal baskets and shelves that slide. I have enough room for jackets but have baskets for hats/gloves/scarves and hooks on the back of the door for backpacks. During the summer i move my jackets to my downstairs storage closet and add more shelves and it becomes my beach towel and beach/pool storage. Sports equipment has its own storage unit in the garage.
