Protocol?

Hi! I am still a newbie to this process so was just looking for some other experiences on protocols, etc. My husbands sperm came back normal, I have ovulated on each cycle, and we have 1 LO who was conceived naturally. If this cycle doesn't work RE suggested doing an HSG an trying IUI next month. Does sound like the norm? He then said we may introduce injections after that.

Cycle 1: Natural cycle with monitoring and ovidrel (per my request)
Cycle 2: Femara with monitoring and ovidrel
Cycle 3: Femara with monitoring and ovidrel.

Re: Protocol?

Sounds right. Is there something you're concerned about specifically?

Re: Protocol?

Thanks so much, initially I wanted to start treatment slow thinking this would magically happen but now I'm getting anxious!

I spoke with the nurse and she said she would email me the details for the fallopian tube check and if I get my period this month and start a new cycle then we would do the test.

That's the way it usually starts. You are patient, until you see that first BFN and then you realize how badly you wanted it NOW! Chat Icon

In general, they say to try each protocol 3 times before moving on. How many follies did you product on Femara?

In my (very unprofessional, and highly unscientific) opinion, injectables gives you a better stim, so that's def where I'd go next.

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: Wait, have you done IUIs those previous months? Or those were just monitored with timed intercourse? If TI, then I'd DEF move onto IUI. That ups your chances.

Re: Protocol?

We were trying to minimize the risk of multiples. On Femara I've had 1 mature follie on cycle 1 & 1 mature follie and a 14mm follie on cycle 2.

My RE does the 3 months same protocol as well. Originally we weren't doing IUI as I've gotten preg naturally before but I agree IUI is next, and I'm going to push for it next cycle if I get my period. Hopefully femara, HSG + IUI will do the trick. Hopefully I won't need to do next month (as I feel my ovulation pains now) Wishful thinking!
