Long haired dog owners come in
We have been told not the bathe our labradoodle too often because it will dry out her skin. The problem is, when she squats to pee it definitely gets on her hair and she smells like urine. What do you do to keep your dog from getting stinky? My husky never had this problem and we used to joke that she was like a cat- always licking and grooming herself.

Re: Long haired dog owners come in
You can bathe your dog once a month and she will be fine. Use an oatmeal shampoo. In between baths, you can use baby wipes to wipe her private parts to keep her clean and not smelly. Also when she gets groomed, ask them for a big sanitary so there will be less hair there.
I wipe my dogs behind every time he goes out. He goes on my furniture and sleeps in my bed. There is no way I wouldn't wipe him. I keep the wipes by the treats. He gets a treat and a wipe when he finishes doing his business.
When it comes to bathing long haired dogs, it's VERY important to brush them out completely before wetting their coat. If a dog has knots and you wet them, they will become matted and matting hurts the dog. Just a heads up.

Re: Long haired dog owners come in
I have a labradoodle and she gets a bath about once a month. I also try and cut her hair around her privates. She goes to the groomer 3-4 times a year and we always make sure to tell them to trim the area really well,

My dog was bathed every 3 months, I brushed her out as well. While at the groomer she would trim around all her "girlie" areas plus, so that it kept cleaner.
