Did any of you ladies use the pack an play as a bassinet? Please let me know your thoughts

Re: About pack an plays
Mine had a newborn napper and bassinet attachment. Basically some netting that makes the mattress a lot higher.
We used it as a bassinet

Re: About pack an plays
My sister in law used the small pack and play as a bassinet (I forgot what it's called). I preferred to have a traditional bassinet because I don't like the way the top bassinet part just hangs in the pack n plays. I didn't think there was enough support.

Mine had a bassinet, newborn napper, and changing attachment. I would have used it as a bassinet, but I bought a smaller bassinet to fit in my bedroom.

Re: About pack an plays
I had planned to, but ds really didn't sleep well in it & would keep waking up, so he did better sleeping in the rock n play those first months. When he got too big for it, I bought a decent mattress for the pack n play so he could lay flat. He finally moved to his real crib at almost a year old

Re: About pack an plays
My son slept in the newborn napper for the first 4-6 weeks. He had reflux. Then I switched him to the bassinet part until he was almost 6 months. He slept great in it...

We didn't use it until they were both around 3 months. They one we had was just too open for them. They never did good in it early on.
We used a rock and play for DD - she slept great in it. DS was colic so I pretty much held him his first 5 months of life - 24/7.

I planned to use it for DD but she didn't sleep well in it so we used the Rock n Play and switched to PnP at 3 mo.

Our DS would sometimes nap in it during the day when he first came home. We used the bassinet feature.

My son slept in the newborn napper part for the first four weeks, and then I switched him to the rock n play. He never cared for the bassinett attachment.

Basically what everyone else said. DS slept in the newborn napper part of the pack and play the first few weeks and then napped in the bassinet attachment.

Dam I have no idea what to do ...bc spending 200 on a bassinet that the baby will be in for a little bit I think is a waste of money ...plus I would like to save that for something else ...I have no idea what to do

Re: About pack an plays
Ds napped in the bassinet part of the pack and play and then slept in it when we were in florida for a week and while we transitioned him to the crib (he slept in the rock n play for the first 8 weeks and then didn't like laying flat while he slept, so it helped "train" him to!).

The rock and play is much cheaper and is nice a light. You can carry it to and from the bedroom to the living to where ever. I had it right by my bedside, so I could reach out and rock her if she fussed.
It's like $80 and if you have a coupon at BBB its even cheaper.
DD did so amazing in it, I was a bit bummed when she outgrew it...lol

It's safe otherwise they wouldn't sell it. Lots of moms on these boards swear by it.
Ultimately, its your money, so you guys have the final say in what you want to spend it on. I would go look at it in person, the baby sits low in it, they can't fall out and they are strapped in as well.

Yesterday when I was at buy buy baby that's where I got it ..I asked about it and of course got different answers ...of course safety is the first thing but I though it would be different from what they showed me bc with the pack an play I got the lady said people use the first layer as the bassinet ....so I got confused bc I though they use the other attachment ...that's why I'm so confused and I have a Graco one ...i know from my friends that they told me it was okay and they used it but the fact that when asking about it everyone had a different option ..I just wanted a straight answer lol

Re: About pack an plays
My 3.5 month old DS slept in the bassinet part of the Graco Pack n Play. He slept fine in it. Honestly, he slept on me the first few weeks lol. We used to swaddle him so he was fine in the pack n play. I didn't want to spend the money on a bassinet either. We never used the napper that came with the bassinet. Now my DS sleeps in his crib.
