Nuchal Test tomorrow- what to expect?
Is there anything in particular I should prepare myself for? Am I supposed to have an empty bladder or full? Are there any questions I should ask? I'm so nervous!!!

breathe lol
did they take blood already at your 10 week appt? they're going to compare those blood results to what they see on the sono. they'll also measure the baby's neck. this test gives you an 85% accurate result if the baby has chromosome abnormalities. the 20 week test gives 95% i think. you don't need a full bladder but they will want you to pee in a cup.
ETA i did this in the doctors office

Nuchal Test tomorrow- what to expect?
i did not have to pee in a cup for my NT Scan (at LIJ) ... I did not go in with a full bladder (but it got full by the end lol)
i got there, waited in the waiting room for a bajillion hours, did a 45 minute sono, had the blood test done (it's just a finger prick), paid my copay, and left
They just measure every single thing and make sure that LO is healthy.
Oh, and they do it over your belly (not internal) - I suggest wearing pants (not a dress since then you'll have to lift it all the way up)

I am going to LIJ Katz today for the test. I know I need to go to the 4th floor Antepartum Unit but where do I park? Visitor parking in the garage? Will I have to pay? Thanks!

We usually get there early and try to find street parking so we don't have to pay. It's insanely hectic over there though and sometimes not worth it.
There's a parking garage by the front entrance of the Katz center. They do not validate the parking, unfortunately, so you do have to pay (i forget how much it is though).

I was coming on to post the same exact thing! Mine is tonight at Katz's. I think I'm more worried about the traffic getting there than the test!! Good to know its external!
Do we get pictures?

Re: Nuchal Test tomorrow- what to expect?
I'm going to my Dr as well. I'm pretty sure they drew blood when I went in at 9 weeks. I'm just hoping that everything's still ok. I try not to think about it too much but its hard. Thanks for the input ladies!

Yeah, we got a bunch of pictures ... sometimes, the sono tech isn't thinking about pics - don't be afraid to ask for a printout.
Oh, and we even asked them to try to get a 3D pic. Sometimes they won't agree but when they do, we've found the pics came out pretty good (they'll usually only do it for a minute or two though so it's really hit or miss).

Re: Nuchal Test tomorrow- what to expect?
No one knows how much it costs to park at LIJ?
eta: Parking in the garage was $4 for up to 1hour and $6 for up to two hours.
Did anyone's tech at Katz say anything?? I felt like she was just all business and didn't say anything at all, wasn't very comforting. Is that normal? She told us the heart rate and that was good, it was moving a lot, but afterward we asked if everything looked ok and she wouldn't say anything. Nervous making.
