My 6 week old doesn't nap
This is new to me. My DD napped like a champ. DS doesn't nap. Sometimes he tricks me and closes his eyes for 3 minutes, but that's it. He wants to be held all the time and then I feel guilty because it limits my ability to play with 20 month old DD. If someone has a magical solution, I would love to hear it.

No solution, just wanted to say that my DD was a HORRIBLE napper as well, so I feel your pain.

Re: My 6 week old doesn't nap
My DD didn't really sleep during the day for a while. But once she started sleeping longer through the night, she became a better napper. Although at 14 months she started fighting naps and now at 17 months doesn't take consistent naps.
Some kids aren't good nappers

My 6 week old doesn't nap
DD is 6 weeks and won't nap either. DD1 was the same way!
I find that if I wear DD in a wrap I will get a good nap out of her. I try to time when I wrap her up (usually use the Moby wrap) when I can play with DD1 to maximize it.
I feel your pain!!!

My 6 week old doesn't nap
My DS didn't nap normally until. 4 months. It stinks. People suggested wearing him so I could get things done. He wanted to be held all the time also and had reflux and a milk allergy. He was my first though so we held him for 3 months pretty much!

My 6 week old doesn't nap
I wore my DS the first 4 months of life. It was the only way he would nap! I don't know if that's an option for you, but it was a blessing for me.

Does he like the swing? That was how I got my best naps out of DD at first. Make sure you're not waiting too long to try to get him down. DD was never awake more than an hour at a stretch until she was at least 4 months. If she rubbed her face once or made the tiniest fussy noise I put her straight down for a nap. I also sometimes swaddled her nice and tight and put her in the rock and play for naps.

Re: My 6 week old doesn't nap
i had the same issue with me ds and felt bad i couldnt play with my 15mo dd. its tough...he eventually caught onto napping. i had to first rock him to sleep for a while....and eventually transitioned to the swing. around 2.5 months he would nap for an hour and i felt like it was a huge victory! around 4 months through now (5 months) he naps for 2 hours in his crib. its a process i would try a ring sling or another wrap carrier so you can play with your dd while holding him
good luck - it will get easier

This!! I was having such a hard time with this too...then I watched a DVD called happiest baby on the block and it changed my life, lol.
It goes by the 5 S's...
Swaddle Shushing Sucking Swinging Side
It talks about trying to mimic the outside world to be like the womb, since that it where they felt the safest and most calm.
So in this instance for sleeping, I would swaddle him tight, give him a pacifier, put on the sound machine and put him in a dark room in rock n play/crib or you could even try the swing.
It may not work since all babies are different, but its worth a shot :)
