5 week old DS won't nap...
DS sleeps pretty well during the night, but during the day will stay up nearly the ENTIRE day (at times he's been up for 12-14 hours straight)...I can tell he is exhausted--his eyes start rolling into the back of his head and he gets very fussy, but he fights sleeping SOOO much! I feel like I've tried everything--he will take the occasional cat nap (10-25 mins) while I am holding him, but nothing longer than that during the day. I've tried rocking him, the swing, the bouncer, swaddling, etc...
Any suggestions for the mommy of a newborn who hates falling asleep!?

We went through this phase for 6 long weeks......... there was NOTHING I could do to get her to sleep. Sometimes she would nap in bed with me, so I would do that...
It will pass...............................................

I've tried swaddling him--I don't have the Miracle Blanket, but I've tried the Swaddle Me--is the Miracle Blanket better than the kiddopotamus Swaddle Me? Swaddle Me works at night but doesn't seem to help during the day.

We loved the miracle blanket; its stronger & bigger than the swaddle me. Have you tried car rides too?

IMO, the Miracle Blanket is definitely better than the Swaddle Me. I'm so sorry he won't sleep during the day Beth, but I'm glad he's doing ok at night.

DS was exactly like this at that age, good night sleeper, terrible napper. I used to have to rub his back while he was on his belly on my bed until he fell asleep (which sometimes took forever) but then he'd sleep for 3-4 hours! Then I'd barricade the sides of the bed and monitor him constantly since he was on his belly (not ideal but its all that worked). When he was a little older (prob like 8-12 weeks?) we got the Rainforest Soother and that worked wonders...

Even though DS was not colicky, we used the methods in The Happiest Baby on the Block to get him to sleep during the day. The Five S-es...
Shhhhhhing
Swaying
Sucking
Swaddling
on the baby's side
It was like magic!
