Nap Questions - 11 week old

DD will be 11 weeks on Thursday and for the past week she hasn't been napping on her own for long at all. Up until a week ago she just used to sleep when she was tired, didn't matter where we were or where she was. Now it seems like she is much more interested in what is going on around her, and resists sleeping.

I just read part of the book Healthy Sleep Habits, and he suggests putting babies down to nap in their cribs after no more than 2 hours of being awake.

Does anyone follow this method? Any suggestions for babies near DD's age?

I think the method makes sense, but I'm wondering how I will ever get out of the house! If I need to put her in her crib for her to learn to nap on her own, and combine that with bf and needing a private place to feed her, how do you leave the house for any reason?

ETA: She has been getting overtired at night and cranky, we have been moving her bedtime up, but I think it's all related to her not getting quality sleep during the day Chat Icon

I am following the Heathly Sleep Habits 2 hour rule. I too felt trapped in my home because "babies need motionless sleep" and should sleep in their cribs. I have decided lately that I need to make this work for my baby and I. If I want to go out, I make sure he gets a good nap in his crib before and after we go out since he will be in the car or stroller while out.

I think around the time DS was 11 weeks, he all of a sudden started needing to be put to bed for the night at an earlier time. Now at 16 weeks, he is back to a later bed time.

ETA: I nurse in public if I need to. I am covered up and usually find somewhere with little "traffic" so that people aren't looking at me.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I'm hoping this whole nap in crib every 2 hours might only last a few weeks.

I'm so happy right now because I saw she was tired after about 1.5 hours of being awake, swaddled her legs with a blanket, brought her to her crib, and she was asleep in 15 minutes. She sleeps fully swaddled in her bassinet at night, so I didn't know if she would resist the crib nap.

I had NO idea that napping would be this tricky!!

ETA: Oh no, she woke up after only 15 minutes of sleeping - does that count as a nap???
