Frozen chicken in the crockpot?
I have some frozen solid chicken breasts (boneless) that I forgot to thaw . If I put them in the crockpot now, would that be ok? I won't need it until like 7 pm or so for a recipe.
I did a quick google and found a site that said you should never do this, that the chicken hovers at a dangerous temp for too long or something like that- allowing bacteria to grow.
But I swear i have done this before with no issue.
Anyone? Have you done this?

Re: Frozen chicken in the crockpot?
I actually haven't done it, but I've read in plenty of recipes that it's fine to do. Actually, one recipe I just recently came across said that the chicken comes out more tender if you put it in frozen? I'd def try it.

Haven't done it personally but I have heard it's okay. Regular fresh chicken you're only supposed to leave for 6 hours or it gets gross! So I would think frozen would buy you some extra time.

Probably because there is more moisture from it defrosting.
Well I am rolling the dice and doing t. It's for a casserole recipe so I figure after it's fully cooked in the crock pot and shredded it's going to be baked AGAIN for 30 min in the oven, so that shoudl kill anything.
I will let you know if I'm sick tomorrow!

I've done frozen pork chops without an issue and I've seen a crockpot recipe video and they used frozen chicken.

Do it all the time, just make sure you give it plenty of time to cook. I usually add an hour or so to the recipe.
