Question about the recipe... Crockpot Chicken W/ Black Beans and Cream Cheese
This was posted a while back and MsMa doesn't post often so I have a question for those who have made it....
Can you substitute anything else for the beans. I am not a fan of black beans.

this one is great I let is cook even longer after I put the cream cheese in so the chicken falls apart. I think I may have gotten this recipe here years ago.
Crockpot Chicken W/ Black Beans and Cream Cheese 4-5 boneless chicken breasts 1 can black beans 1 can corn 1 jar salsa , any kind 1 package cream cheese 1. Take 4-5 frozen, yes, frozen, boneless chicken breasts put into Crockpot. 2. Add 1 can of black beans, drained, 1 jar of salsa, 1 can of corn drained. 3. Keep in Crockpot on high for about 4-5 hours or until chicken is cooked. 4. Add 1 package of cream cheese (just throw it on top!) and let sit for about 1/2 hour. 5. All done and enjoy!
4 servings 4 hours 3 minutes (3 mins prep time, 4 hours cook time)

Re: Question about the recipe... Crockpot Chicken W/ Black Beans and Cream Cheese
I feel like not using black beans would kind of defeat the tex-mex feel of the dish - KWIM?
Is it just black beans that you don't like? Or is it all beans?

Pinto beans have that tex-mex thing too-- that's what refried beans and bean burritos are made with. Red beans (like red beans and rice) would work well too.

Re: Question about the recipe... Crockpot Chicken W/ Black Beans and Cream Cheese
I make this alllllllllllllll the time!
I have used salsa and when I don't have a jar I'll use a can of diced tomatoes and add jalapenoes or green chilis or chipolltes. All depends on the 'heat' you like.
You can use any type of chili style bean (white, pinto, black, kidney)
Can used ground chicken too.
I add a can of corn too
All the above comes our the creams yum when done!!! We have even served it as a dip with baked scoops! YUMMY!!!!

For a non-bean liker, can something else be subbed? Or can they just be taken out? Would thick green beans work? Those are the only beans we tolerate
