cystic acne girls--cleanser

Hi All

Just wondering what type of cleanser everyone uses. I've been using proactiv with not good results and I want to change it up.

Also what type of make up do you use? I've been using bare minerals.

TIA

Are you seeing a derm for it?
I had it bad in my early 20s and I waited too long to see the derm- used all the over the counter stuff and ended up with some scars. Chat Icon

Once I saw the derm she gave me antibiotics that cleared it in a few weeks and topicals for maintenacne.

On a RARE occasion I will still get a cyst, but nothing like I had it then.

I don't think the cleanser matters much- it's more about the treatments. (Just don't use anything with too much oil or anything to harsh or abrasive)

Yes I've been seeing a derm. I started to use her line of cleansers but have noticed lots of little pimples on my forehead since using it. I never broke out on my forehead usually just my chin/jawline.....I have hormonal acne. I just started a new antibiotic today and if it doesn't work I'm on to accutane Chat Icon I've been trying to avoid it but my skin is just getting worse.

I cut dairy out of my diet for 3 months and still broke out.

Noxzema Triple Clean

I alternate the above and

Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face Wash

The Noxzema definitely makes a difference when I'm noticing breakouts of any kind. (Triclosan always made a difference for me.)

The Alpha Hydrox is fairly gentle, so if you're using other products, it won't dry out or upset the skin.

FWIW, I also did 4 Accutane treatments in my past. 3 full treatments and 1 therapeutic.

Order acne.org treatment!! It will change your life. It's the only thing that cleared my skin up. As long as you use a gentle cleanser like Purity, Cerave, Alpha Hydrox or Garnier Gelee you are ok.

I was on doxycycline for over a year and it worked great but I think my body got immune to it cause it stopped working.

i used it for 3 DAYS and stopped because it made me vomit but my skin has never been better. this was also 10 yrs ago. i swear by malin + goetz as a daily cleaner and spot treatment. unless you have an allergy to sulfur.

Solodyn did that to me. So sick with a fever.

I'm going to look into your suggestions. Thank you so much!

I did accutaine when I was in high school, it mostly cleared up my skin but that is some harsh medication. It's still very oily. Don't laugh but I use Irish Spring bar soap. I have tried so many face washes and almost all of them leave what feels like a film on my face. I never found one that actually made my face feel "clean". I would often get breakouts from the soaps and always felt like they made my skin feel more oily. I gave up and determined that I like plain old bar soap best.

I wear bare minerals make up too. I like it fine, doesn't seem to make me break out or anything.

I was severely allergic to proactive. It made me worse. Read the reviews at MakeupAlley.com. It's phenomenal!

You may just need to take a break from the doxy. I took Doryx, which is doxy after horrible backne post partum. It worked wonders, but I did take a break on it, and started again a few mos later.

Try clean and clear deep pore cleanser and Mario Badescu products. They have a serum that's pretty good at clearing stuff up.

Also, you might want to cut down on coffee, soda, chocolate, dairy and nuts. It made a big difference for me. GL!
