Kid friendly restaurants near Museum of Natural History
Someone just posted this same question in my local Facebook group.
We like Big Daddy's on Broadway between 90-91st.
www.bigdaddysnyc.com
People also recommended the Shake Shack right across the street.

Re: Kid friendly restaurants near Museum of Natural History
The last two times we visited the Museum of Natural History, we ate at the cafeteria in the basement and it worked out really well timing-wise.
We got into Penn early, by 10 am. Took the subway up to the museum. Walked around the museum until lunch time. Ate lunch and then saw the planetarium show (which I highly recommend!!) and then afterward visited the gift shop and left. Got a pretzel outside, walked a few blocks south through Central Park, hopped back on the subway, and back to the LIRR home! This was with an 8 year old and a 7 year old. The dino-nuggets in the cafeteria were more than sufficient for them. We knew we had to break the day up or we'd lose them for the planetarium show.
ETA: re: Shake Shack, when we were there in June, the line was around the block.

Thanks everyone! I think we'll attempt shake shack but the back up plan will be big daddy's or just to eat at the museum caf.

We always go to Isabella's on w77 st. Definitely manhattan atmosphere and prices, but they are very kid-friendly and accommodating.

That Shake Shack is always mobbed and that Pizzeria Uno across the street grosses me out. We like Isabella's too especially if you go for brunch!

We live in the area and Sugar and Plumm is our favorite. Totally a kid place but the food is great.

I second this. I have had lunch there and it's great food and atmosphere.
