Has anyione done a 3D sono to find out the gender?
My Dh is bugging me to do this next week (I'll be 16 weeks) My 2nd trimester blood work is scheduled for Dec 24th and at that appt. they will tell us the gender. He doesn't want to wait that long and wants to do a 3D sono where they can do gender determination. Which, obviously isn't guaranteed. I will have to pay $110 because I'm having twins and if they can't tell, I'll have to go back in two weeks, which will be when I have my 18 wk appt anyway.
He's being so stubborn and doesn't want to wait! I feel like it's going to be such a waste of $110 at this stage of my pregnancy.
Has anyone done a 3D sono at 16 wks and have them tell you the gender?

Yes! I did it with this pregnancy and I think I was 16 1/2 weeks and it was very clear I was having a boy! Im pretty sure they can tell at 16 weeks but they will tell you its not 100 percent cause there are certain times that it can be wrong! Honestly I think for 2 more weeks I would wait it out.. I know it seems like forever but its free to wait..and 110 to find out sooner but since they may not be able to tell right away it may not be worth it:( Where are you going? I went to Impact technologies in Hicksville.. Good luck:)

Haa thanks! Ok, that makes me feel a little better. I think I'll just make him pay for it and I'll wait til I'm at least 16 1/2 weeks ;) I was looking into GioImaging. They have locations in Queens and Long Island.
Ok, made the appt. Oddly enough, the receptionist is an identical twin herself and had identical twin boys! She was super sweet and now I'm excited! LOL

If you're going to have an appt in 2 weeks I might just wait it out. However this time around I had a sono at 12wks the. None again until 20wks. I had family in from out of state when I was 16wks. Thought it would be fun to celebrate with them and have a gender reveal. So I made an appt at Baby Imprints in valley stream. They were great and it was SOOO exciting finding out with them. Then of course I had my OB confirm just in case at my 20wk lol still a boy!

Just an FYI, it's a regular sono for gender scan. 3D sonos are done much farther along - in the 3rd trimester, to see what the baby's face and features look like.

I figured it would be a nice surprise to share with the family on Christmas eve after my appt. but hubby doesn't want the day to turn into being about the babies. Which, I get. No, I'm not a twin. Neither is DH. His paternal grandmother was. Not identical though. I have no clue where that came from! It's crazy! DH and I think girls. Just a gut feeling. His WHOLE family swears it's boys. LOL

oh, ok! Thanks! That makes sense! That's another reason why I didn't want to do it. I figured the 3D sono would be much better later in the 3rd trimester. But it really wasn't about the 3D...it's the gender.

Has anyione done a 3D sono to find out the gender?
I had a 16 week sono because I am 35 and she was upside down with her legs crossed. So they weren't able to tell. But she told me going in that she often can't see gender at 16 weeks. Personally I would wait unless there was a reason he wants it sooner.

My dr does the 3d sono in his office. It's just a button he pressed on the sono machine to change it over. I'm 11+2 now and he did one a few weeks ago just to show us. My insurance SUCKSSSS and I have a $3k deductible so I figured I'll let him do as many sonos as possible bc I'm going to pay the $3k out of pocket either way.

Crashing
Aren't ypu having identicals? I feel like the odds of them seeing one is pretty high, so I would probably go for it but I am the most impatient person ever.

We went to a 3d place and did a package of 3 visits. The first one was at 16 weeks for gender and it was 3d. Dd didn't cooperate so we went back two weeks later at no additional charge and she cooperated. We went back two more times and obviously got more detailed pics of her face, but it was 3d the whole time.
