Farm Share?
Has anyone done one? If so, what did you think? Was thinking of doing one this season but wanted to get some thoughts from those that might have already done one.
We are in Jersey - so would do a drop off program through Honey Brook Organic Farms.

Re: Farm Share?
I was part of a CSA. My only advice is make sure you and your family love veggies and can eat a lot of them! If not split a share with someone.

Farm Share?
I did it once. It was a neat experience but I wouldn't do it again. I found that it didn't really replace much of my regulat shopping because it was a weird variety of veggies. In fact, I probably spent more because I would have to look up recipes for veggies I'd never cooked with before so I would have to buy more to go with what they gave me. I'm sure I never would have bought kohlrabi, pea shoots, rainbow beets,or garlic scapes on my own but it was a lot of work to figure out what to do with them.

Farm Share?
I just signed up for one yesterday. I am doing veggies, fruit, bread and eggs! I agree with the above poster that I was worried that it would be a lot of stuff I dont normally eat but I also think I need to expand my horizons too. We are always eating the same things. I figured I would try it this year and see how it goes. Many of my friends rave about it. We are doing a bi-weekly share.

Farm Share?
Sounds interesting... Do you need to work on the farm or just pay something?

Re: Farm Share?
I'm considering doing one. My friend did one last year, and I might sign up for the same one.
I think I will do it if I can split it with another friend or family member. Fresh produce is highly perishable, and it's only me, DH, and 6 year old DS. DH and DS are not huge veggie eaters (although in the summer, DH is more likely to go for grilled veggies or something like that). So I Wouldn't want things to go to waste. I saw what my friend got and there were huge volumes of some items.
Also, I think you have to be a somewhat willing and creative cook. You get what you get -- at least with the one that I am considering. So if something is unfamiliar to you or you get a huge amount of an item, or aren't sure how to prepare it, you have to be willing to research how to use it, so that things don't go to waste.
