Chronic Coughing
I've been coughing since the end of October and its been really bad since the week after Christmas (which at that point I was diagnosed with bronchitis.)
I'm 29 weeks.
I think heartburn is making it worse, though its not the cause. But when my heartburn is bad, which is often I cough more. I can feel congestion in my chest as some of the cause.
Anyhow it seems to be getting worse and its making me crazy. I wake up in coughing fits. It's also causing cramps in my stomach when I cough. I am literally afraid I am going to cough myself into labor, can that happen?
OB said I can take Robitussum (though it doesn't help so I don't want to take it) and Cough drops, and for heartburn Tums or Pepcid.
Anyone deal with this? Could this be pregnancy related and not a cold? Any natural suggestions?

Yup. And to make it worse... When I would get in a fit I would pee. Pregnancy is horrible. Lol. It's probably post nasal drip. Mine was all pregnancy related due to increased mucus. The bright side is that it literally went away the minute I gave birth.

Haha so true! But I agree. I have major post nasal drip which is awful. I'm annoying myself at the amount of times I clear my throat in a 10 minute period.

Re: Chronic Coughing
Had this last pregnancy. Went on round the clock tums (heartburn pain or not). Put my own bed on a slant (textbooks under headboard). Cleared right up in less than a week. Seems like cough exacerbated heartburn which exacerbated cough. Advise was from a good pulmonologist!

When I was a kid my mom used to do that with my bed. I can't do that here though because I have a HUGE piece of furniture. May have to have DH come up with a plan.

Re: Chronic Coughing
Use a humidifier at night, and try saline spray for your nose during the day. You likely have post-nasal drip which is aggravating the cough.
