how much will 10K coverage do?

I know insurance companies get discounted prices for IVF.

Do you know how many cycles will 10K will cover. and at which clinic?

I looking into Aetna 10k lifetime limit if that makes any difference.

It will depend on what procedures you do (ie: ICSI) but for me, that wouldn't have even covered 1 IVF. Normally, I'd say that will cover 1 and a little.

Give or take; most RE's charge about $10-12K for a full IVF cycle.

So it may almost cover one cycle; depending on where you go. And this of course does not include an FET. Which they charge another $4K.


But hey; it's a lot more coverage than most ever had; so you are pretty lucky.

Yep. About 1 time IVF and all the stuff leading up to it.
Don't forget the meds are $$$ and may or may not be covered.

One cycle maybe 1-1/2. The meds might be covered under your regular prescription coverage

I had 10k lifetime, with uhc not Aetna and it covered 2 frozen cycles and most of 1 fresh. I think I had to put in 1500 for what was not covered. All my meds were covered under my prescription coverage so that didn't get deducted from my 10k not did any monitoring I did. Just retrieval and transfers were taken from my 10k.

Eta my fresh transfer included icsi on all embryos.

I had 10k per lifetime with BCBS. I used LIIVF. It covered all the tests leading up to IVF, along with monitoring. I had to pay $1000 or $2000( I don't remember) out of pocket for ICSI. My meds were covered by my perscription plan. I only had 1 fresh (successful)IVF cycle. I'm not sure how much was left over.

I used LIIVF and had a fresh IVF cycle with ICSI on all the retrieved eggs. With the actual procedure (retrieval and transfer) and monitoring (bloods/sono), I think my 1 cycle was a little over $11K. My fertility drugs were covered by my prescription plan, and I only had to pay the co-payments.

10k should cover more than one cycle since you are paying the insurance companies negotiated rate and not true OOP cost. We had 15k. 15k has gotten us 3 fresh cycles and we still have more coverage left.

I think it also depends on if your monitoring and meds are part of the 10K lifetime limit. I know for my health insurance basically everything leading up to the IVF was covered under my health insurance without coming out of my lifetime limit. It's different for every plan so you'd have to talk to your provider. Good luck!
