Birthday party Easter Saturday?
DS's 6th birthday falls on Easter Saturday. We want to plan a party for his friends (mainly from school). Would you have a party on that Saturday or would you make it the weekend before?
TIA!

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
I would do the weekend before, or even the weekend after depending on when the school holiday falls, A lot of people go away and may not be around

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
I would figure out when both Passover and Easter are on the calendar and do it a different weekend because people will likely be away on vacation.

Birthday party Easter Saturday?
I say go for it. If people aren't home, they aren't home. I will probably have my DD's on Good Friday

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
Personally, I would attend a party on Easter Saturday although I may be the minority. People do travel to visit family and go on Spring Break so that is a factor.
DS's party is the week BEFORE Easter (Palm Sunday) and I know I will have people decline since some families will consider this a full-fledged holiday as well.
Good luck and enjoy the party!

I would attend a party on Easter Saturday. But, I do agree because of the school vacation it sometimes can be a popular traveling time.
I would NOT attend a birthday party on Good Friday and, would honestly, be a little put off receiving a birthday party invitation for that day.

Really? We had a party on Good Friday 4 years ago (actually 5 years ago), and every child came. Not a single decline. My daughter's birthday was ON Good Friday, and I wasn't going to NOT celebrate her birthday because it was Good Friday ;)

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
If I wasn't busy Easter Saturday I would come, but most likely I'd be busy. I would not allow my children to go to a party on Good Friday.

I personally wouldn't go because we go away from spring break and usually come home that day.

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
We're going through the same thing for DS's birthday. Between school break and it being Easter weekend, we opted to have his party the first weekend after they return from break. Everyone we talked to was either busy that weekend or planning to go away for vacation.

Birthday party Easter Saturday?
We have had DD's Bday on Easter Saturday a few times- I don't find I get more or less ppl coming bc of that weekend. No one has ever had an issue with it.

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
Passover starts the same weekend so I would not attend. My kid's birthdays are not around then, but if they were I would respect Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Although I never considered having a party on a Friday anyway. I wouldn't think the Saturday before Easter would effect anything so if Passover wasn't the same weekend I would do it then. Both my boy's birthday are usually during holidays (one around Memorial Weekend and one around July 4th). I have a party around then and if friends can attend they do. I can't always work around everyone's vacation times so do what works best for you.

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
I make a point of not scheduling parties on holiday weekends. I feel like people are busy getting ready for the holiday, especially if they are hosting, and the last thing they want to think about it taking time out for a birthday party.
We spend the day before Easter (whether I am hosting or not) baking Easter bread, cooking, and dying eggs. For myself, I would prefer to NOT have to attend a party that day if given the choice.

Re: Birthday party Easter Saturday?
I know in my school district we have off the week after Easter, so we are going away from April 4-11...I would schedule it outside of those weekends due to people traveling.
