Driving to FL. Advice?
where do you spend the night on the way down? How long does it usually take you? Any cool things to stop at along the way? Is gas usually cheaper or more expensive heading south? Any insight would be great!

Driving to FL. Advice?
We've driven down 3 times so far with the most recent time being the beginning of February. We have a 2 year old and a 3 year old so we left at night this time. We had intended on leaving at 7 pm but we had a hiccup and ended up leaving at 1230 Am. We made it to North Carolina by 930. Had we left when we intended, we would have driven til 930 when the kids woke up. We usually drive straight thru and make it in about 16/17 hours. Some tips: do the speed limit in Virginia. If you have NY plates, you will get pulled over. Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and northern Florida are very long to drive thru. When we stopped, we stopped in northern NC in a town called Rocky Mount. It was a short drive to Raleigh. We stopped there because we physically were exhausted. We also love hockey so we caught a game in Raleigh the following day before leaving to drive the rest of the way. There really isn't much to see. I95 is extremely boring. If you want to stop a few places, you can stop in DC or look for something that you'd be interested such as a sporting event. Gas was cheaper in most states than it was here. Some states were way cheaper, some just a few cents. One tourist stop is South of the Border which is right as you cross into South Carolina. You will see signs forever. It really is like a big strip mall of gift shops and random stuff. If you have any specific questions, feel free to Pm me

Re: Driving to FL. Advice?
We usually stop in Savannah. We would rather do one long day and then a shorter one the second day. We can't do it in one trip...my girls get stir-crazy after a while and my husband hates driving for long extended periods of time.
