Meals to make ahead of time / food to have available
DH and I are going away for a week and my 17 yr old SS is staying home. A good friend of mine will be staying with him (not to "babysit", exactly, but to keep an eye on things, keep him company and be there if he needs anything).
My friend is single and not really into cooking etc. What foods or meals can I make ahead of time and/or have on hand that they can eat for dinners? I'm sure they will get pizza etc at least once, but I don't want them to have to go out/get take out every night.
Thanks!

Chicken cutlets, meatballs, sauce , chili, stew, soups all reheat well. If you want some healthy snacks, pre-wash and cut up veggies and some fruit.

Re: Meals to make ahead of time / food to have available
what does he normally like to eat?
im sure they will get pizza at least once or twice.
they can also order chinese or something else.
at that age my brother would just grab bags of chips and dips and snack all day long when my parents weren't home. stock the pantry with his favorite snacks.
if you are looking for actual meals, I'd make him things he likes already that you know he would eat.
if thats pasta and a meat sauce, make that. they can make pasta fresh and can just reheat your sauce or you can premake it and freeze it.
you can do taco meat and let them fill it themselves.
you can do a big batch of chili or soup.
get cold cuts or stuff for nice sandwiches. I am sure they will eat sandwiches, at least for lunch.

Re: Meals to make ahead of time / food to have available
I will be gone 3 nights this weekend and I prepped food in advance (I'm traveling with baby, DH and other 3 will be home).
I made a big batch of sauce so DH will just have to cook pasta for it.
I also browned and seasoned taco meat and got taco shells, lettuce, cheese, etc. DH will just have to assemble and cook rice in the rice cooker (TJ also has frozen rice but it's not safe for my son with food allergies).
I'm also getting a Rotisserie chicken that they can eat with rice again and a steamable bag of broccoli.
These are all super easy! My oldest has severe food allergies so we don't eat out or do takeout but of course that's always an option.
Usually I have homemade pizza dough and sauce in the freezer too.
Could also do baked ziti or baked mac & cheese. Quesadillas are easy too or breaded chicken cutlets.
