Those with Boy/girl twins...

Are they opposites???

DD is sooooo indpendent
-she gets her shoes and jacket on if she knows we are going out and puts them away when we get home while DS is doing everything else in the world even though I have told him 5 times to put on his jacket
-She gets out the bath dresses herself, hangs her towel etc DS runs around naked, plays and needs 400 reminders to get dress

Is this just the difference between boys and girls?

I just had ds evaluated for speech and they did a psych and he tested well so no other issues.

But OMG when I compare the 2 of them it is just night and day. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Those with Boy/girl twins...

Mine are only 7 months so I don't have a ton to go on, but I already see differences. They were born within an ounce of each other, but now DS weighs 3 pounds more. DD babbles so much more and is way more expressive. DD can just sit happily watching everything that is going on. DS needs to move. He can't even crawl yet, but he is constantly trying to lunge for things. It's so hard not compare them since they were born at the same time, but I'm trying to remind myself that they're really just siblings who share a birthday. :)

I have triplet boys so it's not the same situation at all, but I really think it's the difference between boys and girls...I was like a second mother to my neices and boy is it different with my three boys! They can't sit still and their self-care skills are nothing like what my nieces' were at their age...

Those with Boy/girl twins...

My b/g twins are 4.5 and are very much opposites of each other. Not all of the time but a lot of the time. My daughter is very outgoing and friendly where as my son is more reserved and quiet. My daughter loves to work on educational things at home while my son only will do it when he's in school. My daughter is very particular and concentrates when she's doing something like coloring but yet my son will quickly scribble some stuff and be done. I don't really know if it's just the difference between boys and girls or not but it's interesting to see.

Mine are definitely two very very different people, then again so are my husband and I!

What I find fascinating is that despite being exposed to the same toys, experiences, media etc each kid has naturally gravitated towards the very gender-typical roles and toys. EVERYTHING Pink for DD and DS has been turning anything into a car and into crashing since he could pick up a toy!

Re: Those with Boy/girl twins...

Mine are also only 6.5 months but are complete opposites. DD is social and wants to interact, and also wants to go go go after her older brother - her little legs go a mile a minute and she loves to eat! She's 1.5 pounds more than DS. DS is quiet and will sit with the simplest toy for 10 minutes just grabbing it, studying it. It is so hard NOT to compare - but I like what PP said- they are siblings sharing same bday - I'll have to remember that!
