Have your tastes in furniture changed over the years?
We've been living in our house almost 5 years and bought all new furniture for a couple rooms in the house when we moved in. Now I feel like I have a different style and wish I could change everything, but that won't happen. Most of our furniture is cherrywood color and now I'm really into the distressed wood look. Is it ok to add a few distressed pieces to our current furniture? Everything doesn't have to be matchy matchy right?

Yup. My tastes change every 5 or so years. I don't know if it is me getting older/more mature or just liking the new trends or if I just get bored, but this is why I won't invest $$$$ in "Good" furniture and just buy inexpensive pieces I like and then don't feel bad selling/getting rid of them down the line.
Yes I think it is fine to add in distressed pieces. I don't like everything matching anyway.

I don't see why you can't mix and match.
My tastes have changed but not radically. I've always been into more farmhouse/vintage/country looks though there are always small changes. I too seem to get a '5 year itch' when it comes to paint colors and decor- and next month will mark 10 years in our house and 5 years since we did major painting. I'm going to stain our bedroom furniture too, I still like it but I want a new look for it.
