Queen versus King size bed?
We were considering getting a new bed.
We currently have a queen sized, but could potentially have room for a king.
What are the pros/cons of having a king sized bed, if any? Besides bedding being more expensive. Is a bigger bed worth having less room in the bedroom? I am kind of thinking of getting another queen, but we discussed a king, so I would like to ask around to see if its worth thinking more about... Thanks!

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
IMO it's been worth it. I need my space when I sleep.
We had concerns because our bedroom is small. But a king is only 16 inches wider and the length is the same. It sounds like a lot but it's not really not if you measure, which we did. We do see the difference in the room but it's worth it- to me, the main purpose of the room is to sleep so the bed is really the most important thing.
Bedding is pricier but I found these excellent sheets at Target- the Threshold brand- and they were a great price. We only have 2 sets and one flannel which has been perfect.

Queen versus King size bed?
We have a queen size in our primary residence because I king will not fiit up the stairs but we have a king in our vacation place. Honestly neither of us move around much and we aren't all night cuddlers and I love our queen. I almost feel like the king is too big.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
I've had both and currently have a queen. I like it more than the king I had. I hated be so far away from my DH at the time. But I like touching when I sleep. Which is why I prefer a queen. As for the space in the room when we had a king, it wasn't an issue.
It's definitely a personal preference.

Queen versus King size bed?
Sometimes I like having a Queen. But there are definitely times where I wish we had a King -- like when it's hot and DH is a human oven and when DD comes into our bed if she wakes up early and somehow her 21lb frame takes up half the bed.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
We have a queen but it's because of where we wanted our bed placed in the room. A queen fits perfectly between the two windows.
I think it depends upon how you sleep. Sometimes I like my space (stubborn independence over romance ). I'll admit in the few hotel rooms that have had a king bed, I have felt like we were in two different zip codes but then again that was 10 years ago...lol.
Another factor, can you get a king up the stairs if the bedroom is one the second floor? With some older homes or narrower staircases/landings it's an issue.

We prefer our king. There definitely is space in our master for it. Queen is tight for the two of us, especially when the cat pushes us out of the way so she can stretch out.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
We've had both. We had a queen than a king and now a queen. While we had space for the King it just took up so much space If I had a much larger room I would have kept a king. I like the extra space in the bed. Sheets and bedding are more $$$ for king but thats not something you need to worry about in the long run.
I say if you don't mind losing space in your room go for a king.

I was being idealistic in my earlier post. My DD, who is *8* still somehow makes her way into our bed a few time a week, along with the dog who is there every night (beagle) AND the cat.

Queen versus King size bed?
Love my King because I like my space, but after moving to a smaller bedroom, I wish we had a smaller bed.

Queen versus King size bed?
If i could go back, i would've bought a king- I regret it every day! lol... we weren't sure if our house would fit a king, so i registered for all queen sized bedding on our wedding registry, and ordered our queen mattress and bed frame for our new house. We moved in right after our wedding, and really wish I had a king now!!

Queen versus King size bed?
I can't see any con to having a king, aside from if you don't have room for it. When dh and I were first married, we only had a full! He is 6'2, lol- his feet hung off the end. When we moved we bought a king and now i could never go back.I can't stand having anybody touching me when I sleep, and with 4 dc, there is often someone wandering into our bed in the middle of the night. A king is so roomy, I just love it.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
Lol, we spent a few months with relatives and had a full bed so our queen seems gigantic now! I'm fine with the queen, don't see the need for a full. I also don't love that on vacation in a king bed, it's WORK to get close to each other!

We have a queen and its perfect for us. A king wont fit up our stairs anyway. We've slept in king beds on vacations and it feels sooo big to me. I'm only 5 feet so I dont take up much space lol

Queen versus King size bed?
We have a queen but I wish we had a king! We need one, between my husband who rolls towards the middle all night and the dog who sleeps like we are attached by velcro, I have no space! I just don't feel like we have the room for it. I keep saying when we sell this place and buy a new one we will get a house with the room for a king.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
we started with a full when we were first married and upgraded to a queen when we bought our first new set.
if we could fit a king we would. we try to get a king on every vacation. i do not know how we slept on a full back then since the dog would sleep with us most nights. we finally trained the dog in the last few years to sleep in his own bed.

Queen versus King size bed?
We started with a Queen when we first got married upgraded to a King a few years later and now just went back to a Queen.
If you have the space and don't like to cuddle at night get a King bed. It was nice having that extra space especially the times DD would crawl into bed with us however sometimes I felt like DH and I were so far apart from each other (I like to cuddle).
We just went back to a Queen because we just bought a house and the master is smaller than our master in our coop. I didn't want to overwhelm the room with a bed. So far I like the Queen. It's enough room for DH & I (and we are both not small people).

Same. A queen seems so dinky in comparison. Lol. Not to mention that my kids sneak in sometimes and our dog sleeps in our bed. If we had a queen, I think I would fall out, But on the flip side, my parents have a queen and feel a king is too big. So it's really a very personal decision.

Re: Queen versus King size bed?
We are definitely getting a king in the near future. The queen can feel small when it's just DH and I. Once you have a kid in the bed, forget it. I need my space when I'm sleeping and I get really claustrophobic if I feel anyone touching me.

We've been sleeping in a full size bed since we got married almost 13 years ago. We finally upgraded to a King size after doing our renovations. Can't wait!!
