Shakes/Meal replacement question
Has anyone ever tried one of those shakeology/isagenix/herbalife things and GAIN weight initially and go on to success? I am petite and healthy to start and keep a high protein, low refined carb, paleo type diet but have put on about 6 lbs this year. Was looking to change it up a bit. Tried a meal replacement program, track all calories carbs etc on MFP but have gained a few lbs. what gives?!?! I don't want to give up, I paid a lot of money and find the shakes Delish and on paper I should be doing fine. I'm wondering if water, fiber retention initially is common with these things? Thanks!

Shakes/Meal replacement question
I tried Shakeology and found once you start adding things into the shake you can really make the Cal climb without even realizing. So I ended up not losing.
I am doing Take Shape for Life right now and its meal replacement except for one meal and no a single person I know has gained anything.

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
Hey! I began Shakeology and 21 Day Fix last month and had great success -- initially I just did the shakes and lost a few pounds, probably because the shake curbed my cravings and filled me up so long. What shake are you using? Maybe it's an ingredient in it? hmmm.... and allie's right, if you add things to the Shakeology the calories quickly climb... I make mine with ice and water and it's delicious as is :) Good luck! What exercise program are you doing?

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
I use shakeology for breakfast supplement and jay robb's egg white protein shake as a mid-day pre-workout shake.
I notice that when I have shakeology without working out, I dont find that it helps. But when I do get a workout in I do find that it does help assist with weightloss. I usually add a banana and pb or banana and mango/ pineapple in mine. So on days I know I will be working out I make sure to have my shakeo. But if Im not working out, I try not to have it.

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
I use Isagenix - but solely as meal replacement. I don't add anything to the shakes either b/c the cal count easiy goes way up. I've had great success with them -
Are you using the shakes in place of a meal? Or adding them to your diet pre/post workout?

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
Thanks for the reaponses! I think I figured it out. It IS a meal replacement but it took me a while to get the hang out it - I was eating pretty much like normal at first. I also was making them way too caloric (and delicious ;). I think I am on track now!

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
I used shakeology but found it to be very expensive especially when the DH and I are both taking it. I know take (and sell) Ultimate Profit, which is also a "superfood" protein powder. It's cheaper than shakeology (by half the price) and has less calories, carbs and sugar than Shakeology.
I make my shakes with water, ice and a bit of frozen fruit. Under 250 calories every day. (i eat a bunch of smaller meals so 250 is good for me).

Re: Shakes/Meal replacement question
I just started on IdealShake on Monday. I'm replacing one meal per day with this shake. I'd actually prefer to replace 2 meals per day, but DH is complaining that we'll go broke if I use it twice a day
