Gender Reveal Party

So who is having one or already had one? We are going to have one this time around. We are having cookies made with pink or blue filling inside and having everyone at the party take a bite at the same time! What did you do? Curious to party ideas other than the reveal. What food did you serve and decorations? I think we are doing a BBQ.

Gender Reveal Party

We didn't do a big party. It was just us, my sister and her DH. Then we Sykped my Dad and DH's Mom. We got a cake and had the filling in the cake pink or blue.

Gender Reveal Party

We had one for #1. I got pink and blue balloons, made an old wives tale sign. My sister made blue mustache and red/pink lip lollipops. A friend made the cake and put pink in the middle for a girl. It was fun!

We did one for #2, it was so fun! We did a gender reveal cake and invited immediate family over. We served pizza before hand.

Our sono is May 26th and we are having the party that Saturday, the 30th. It is going to be a surprise for us too, I am going to ask the tech to write the gender on a piece of paper and then I will give it to the baker in an envelope. We are also just inviting very close family and friends, we aren't doing anything huge. I just thought it would be a fun excuse to have a little get together and share the news! Thanks for all your suggestions! We can't wait!

What's rude?

Its a personal pet peeve of mine when people refer to these as gender reveals. You are revealing the sex, not the gender.

Not really sure where you see rudeness in her response. She's correct. The term "gender" is used incorrectly 99.9% of the time. If you are revealing boy/girl, it's considered a sex reveal. Gender refers to masculinity/femininity. I recently went to one where they had a cake made -- it said "We're just here for the sex!" -- the cake was then dyed the color of the sex -- it was a huge hit with the guests!

Re: Gender Reveal Party

Who cares! LOL...Gender...Sex...I called it a "gender reveal" because that's what everyone calls it. I do know that it really is the "sex" that is being revealed, but I like the sound of gender reveal rather than sex reveal, as do many people since that's the popular name for these parties. My hubby is a dr and we were just talking about how technically it was wrong to say gender too the other day...Chat Icon

Re: Gender Reveal Party

We had one with our last baby...we had a cake that we cut to reveal. We served lots of appetizers instead of a meal (lasagna roll-ups, mini-meatballs, caprese salad on a stick, etc.)...we had a bunch of guessing games, name suggestions, pins to wear for your guess...we had pink and blue punch...we tried to make it fun and more of a party than a "baby" event! Ours was pretty big...about 40 people...

What kind of guessing games did you play? Sounds like a fun party!

Gender Reveal Party

we did a cake. no one knew the sex, not even us.
the cake was round with pink and blue polka dots and said "which will it be a he or a she? the inside was sponge with a layer of canoli and a layer of frosting that revealed the gender.
I was sooooooooooooooooo surprised when I cut into the cake!! I thought I would see blue for sure, but it was a big thick slab of PINK!!!!!

We gave the envelope to the bakery along with a picture of the cake we wanted. we reminded them a dozen times not to reveal anything about the gender.. the secret was safe!
it was a great time!
we didn't do any games or anything. I just had a hero, a homemade salad, chips and dip and the big reveal cake!
it was a lot of fun. glad we got to do it!
