Long Island Bakery Suggestions for Gender Reveal Cake?
Hi!
It looks like we're going to find out the baby's gender at 10 weeks with a blood test! I can't believe it will be so soon!
Any recommendations for a GOOD bakery to do a gender reveal at a BBQ?
Any pictures of cute gender reveal cakes anyone can share?
Thanks!

Dortoni Bakery in Levittown or The Cake Gallery in Bellmore -- both make delicious cakes that look amazing!

I got my cake at Dortoni, it came out great and was relatively inexpensive.

Oh and we also asked them to give us the envelope back w/ the slip of paper that said the gender inside just in case! Image Attachment(s):

That is SUPER cute!!! Thanks SO much!!! That's pretty much the design I was interested in, too! It's only going to be family and a few close friends, so that size is perfect, too!
I know everybody's tastes are different, but would you say their cakes too sweet, not sweet enough or just right?

It was just right, to me anyway. They can also do more fancier stuff but we didn't want to break the bank. I believe this was the 9" round and it was $26 I believe? This was whipped cream topping/ butter cream filling and I asked them to do a polka dot design. I dropped the envelope on a Wednesday night and had it ready for Sunday.
Word of advice, stick two knives in there and then pull out with a cake server. I accidentally ruined the surprise a little, because I stuck the knife in to cut, and pulled it out and saw some pink on the knife! My DH got mad at me lol

Long Island Bakery Suggestions for Gender Reveal Cake?
Just a tip. I would ask them to use food coloring for the actual cake. This way when you do the first cut you don't see the color icing on the knife.
Our cake itself was pink with chocolate icing on top and it was perfect

Re: Long Island Bakery Suggestions for Gender Reveal Cake?
I have used for all sorts of cakes two bakeries:
Alpine in Smithtown
Audrey's in West Sayville
Both are divine and do great cakes in any design you'd like.
For the gender party I had I used Alpine. They were great.
It said, on the cake:
Overwhelmed with pride and joy be it a girl or a boy!
And then it was decorated with pink and blue on the outside and then on the inside it was blue icing because we had a boy lol.

Very good advice! Thanks! I can totally see me doing that, too!
(I'm hoping for pink frosting, too, but overall praying for a HEALTHY BABY! But I hope my cake looks EXACTLY like yours!!)
And I love the suggestion to ask for the envelope back, as well, juuuuuuust to make sure.

I'm an asshat.
I never took a pic of the cake.
Unless someone in my family at the party did lol talk about preggo brain.
But I have the video of the reveal... which was what I was concerned about making sure we had.
I know the bakery had pics of my cake done and other reveal cakes so you can see them there -- that is how I chose mine.
Here's the video:
ETA: the roar from the people waiting in anticipation gets me every single time It's so funny! And we had all taken guesses and had dinner and then it was cut when dessert was served so everyone was dying.
And everyone BUT three people guessed girl and it was a boy! So that was cool.

First of all, you're not one, but "asshat" is my new favorite word.
Second of all, SUCH a cute video!!! I love it!!!

Re: Long Island Bakery Suggestions for Gender Reveal Cake?
Sweet Lucille's in Smithtown...we just ordered ours after I saw my friend's. I priced with Audrey's and Dortoni's as well but Lucille's came in at the best value. Not only that but Audrey's and Dortoni's told us they would charge us for a cake tasting meanwhile Lucille's had us scheduled for a day and had us try SO MANY for free that we felt almost sick when we left!
Just to give you an idea on how great they are for cost I shopped my idea around to all three and got quotes. For a 12" buttercream with fondant details, lemon sponge & either raspberry mouse (for a girl) or blue lemon (for a boy) filling: Dortoni quoted us $250 Audrey's quoted us $140 Lucille's quoted us $100
Will post pictures but it's not until May 23rd.
