Anyone commute to CT from NY?

DH just got offered a position in Greenwich, CT, and he decided to take it. We live in Queens and are considering moving to Bayside in a few months.

Anyone have experience with this commute? He took the Metro North for the interview, but that took a little more than 2 hours, so he is going to drive. I'm just wondering how the traffic generally is.

Anyone commute to CT from NY?

My neighbor did for awhile before eventually moving there. Huntington to Stamford. He drove and it took him same amount of time as it did when he worked in the city. All depends on traffic, accidents and timing. I would leave early in the morning and either early or late on the way home.

Anyone commute to CT from NY?

I did it for a few months. On average, it took me about an hour to drive from Farmingdale to Stamford.

I live in North Stamford (very close to Greenwich )and my parents live in queens, right by the Whitestone bridge. The drive is about 45 minutes to a little over an hour with no or some traffic. It can be a little longer if there is really heavy traffic, but that's the case with any driving commute. On average, I would expect the drive to be about an hour during normal commute times.

My boss commutes almost everyday from Westport to Great Neck. Good days takes about an hour/hour & half.

This is what one of DH's future co-workers also said, but wasn't sure how accurate he was since he never lived there.

That's probably a little better than his commute right now. It takes him just over an hour to get downtown, he's looking forward to not taking the train anymore.

Bayside/Whitestone to Greenwich is not a bad commute at all. You have to pay the toll but other than that it's fine. Most days will prob take 45 min to an hr. Esp if he leaves early.

Re: Anyone commute to CT from NY?

Bayside to Greenwich is a piece of cake. I commute from Holtsville to Stamford 3x per week, work from home the rest. For me the LIE is the worst part of the trip and he wont have to deal with that. The worst parts of the commute for him will be the Bronx and the NY/CT border, but it all depends on timing. Leaving early is best. Good luck in his new job!

as someone whose family home would have been covered over by that bridge, no thank you. Seriously the road way near by are single lane with trees and meander. The traffic would be a nightmare. You would have forced the state to take a lot of houses. The people who lived where they were planning the bridge did not want it. It would have destroyed some of the oldest communities on Long Island.
