Follow-up to c-section post
So it looks like a lot if people got sick after their c-section- is this the norm?
Only asking bc with my first c-section i was fine- just in pain. No vomiting... I also waited out on getting any meds until the very end- right before the actual surgery.
So im wondering, what caused everyone to get sick? Wondering if i should wait on getting pain meds as i did prior or get them as soon as i arrive to the hospital.

Follow-up to c-section post
My first 2 Csections I had zero issues. During my last one in 2013 I was vomiting during the procedure which continued in the recovery room. Once I drunk that antacid to neutralize my stomach I felt like crap and when they started tugging to get DD out is when the vomiting started.
Not fun and hoping for a different experience this go around.

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
I labored for many hours with an epi and was fine. I vomited once when we got into the OR though. Whatever anesthesia they had given me made me very sick but it only lasted for a few minutes. I had surgery several years ago and got violently ill from Percocet so in general I try to avoid pain meds.

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
My c-section was due to a failure to progress. I never got sick or felt sick or had any adverse reaction to anything.

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
I got sick from my first c-section, but that was because I had to eventually be put under general anesthesia. I had so much anesthesia in me bc I already had an epidural, so I was nauseous the entire next day. They gave me 2 types of anti nausea medication and by the following day I was ok.
My 2nd c section, I had no problems at all. I ate dinner that night in my room

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
I didn't get sick at all during my c-section. I threw up three times while in active labor during my VBAC. It was before I got an epi so it just had to do with the hormones I guess.

Follow-up to c-section post
I had a tiny bit of nausea a few minutes after dd was born and that was it. I had no pain meds before hand since I wasn't in labor.

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
I also felt nauseous after drinking the antacid that they gave me to drink before to the point where I asked for a bucket because I really thought I was going to vomit.

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
My first c-section was an emergency following a longish labor. I think I felt nauseous for a few minutes in the OR, but they pumped something in that took the queasy feeling away.

Follow-up to c-section post
I got sick once, but that was because I was pumped full of drugs which started when I was induced. I don't do well with meds lol

Follow-up to c-section post
I did great I think because I asked a million questions on this board prior to the surgery. I walked as much as I could to get the gas to travel, I drank tea to help also. When I was in PACU (was full out for C-section because was having two surgeries) I was given nice meds lol. Tell the doctor of your fears and I am sure they will try to help as best as they can!

Re: Follow-up to c-section post
i labored and was then induced and had an epi for a total of 14 hours, then they called the c-section. I threw up 3 times during my section, the anesthesiologist pumped anti nausea meds into me about 5-7 time trhoughout the surgery and it would help for a few minutes and it would come back. I continued to puke about 25 times in recovery which was incredibly painful. The nurses said they never saw anyone so bad before.
I am having a schedule C in 7.5 weeks and praying that it will better being that I will not have additional drugs from laboring and induction.
I have also been throwing up my entire pregnancy so i just suck! haha
