NYC DOE Tenure
Does anyone know when your principal would need to notify you if you are not receiving tenure or that you have received tenure?
Thanks

I would call the UFT office. They would definitely know the answer.

You are granted tenure by estoppel 3 years +1 day from your start day. If you go off payroll during those 3 years at all your day gets pushed back the number of days you were off payroll. Your principal needs to have a meeting with you before the 3 year mark. From there, s/he can extend you (1 year), grant tenure, or terminate you. FM me if you have any other questions. I feel like the union did a TERRIBLE job of explaining this. It's kind of hard to get by estoppel since they (principals and aps) receive emails telling them who is up for it!
