Best Car Seat for Airplanes
We're flying with DD to Vegas in a few weeks and are trying to figure out what to do on the plane. Our main car seat is the Britax Boulevard which is way too big and bulky to deal with in an airport. I can't use the CARES harness, bc we'll need a car seat to get to the hotel and DD is too young for the that taxi travel vest. I've been told to purchase the Safety 1st Onside Air, which is relatively inexpensive and good for flights, but I'm curious if anyone on here has been in a similar situation and has suggestions.
Additionally, what's the best way to lug a big car seat through the airport? We're taking our g-luxe with us, so I know we can put the car seat in that, but often DD needs to be contained in it or she'll run away.
Thanks in advance!

Best Car Seat for Airplanes
we use the cosco car seat from walmart - it is light weight and easy to install when we travel - we click the teether strap to bottom and throw over shoulder - the seat is only about $30

Re: Best Car Seat for Airplanes
We have purchased Britax Roundabouts for the plane. Then we put this same seat in the car when we arrived at our destination.

Re: Best Car Seat for Airplanes
We leave in 2 weeks for nc and we just got a cosco car seat from walmart $39 for our youngest. Our oldest we are flying with her evenflo secure kid because it's not that bulky. Youtube videos on how to strap your carSeat to luggage. I just tried it last week and it works.

Best Car Seat for Airplanes
We flew with our britax advocate, which it doesn't get bulkier and bigger than that and it was totally fine. We have the britax backpack (also has wheels) and dh wore it and then installed it in the window seat. Easy peasy

We love our Diono Radian for flights. It folds flat and has back straps so you can wear it like a knapsack when not in use

Is she foward facing? If so.....
The air is a good option, but you may not get much use it of it since the top slots are only 15". I would check her in the seat before buying it to make sure the harnesses are coming from above her shoulders.
You could get a Sureride/Titan65 for about $20 more. (They're around $100) It has 19" top slots and will get you plenty of use in the future as a spare seat. This seat will get her to at least a minimum safe age to booster (usually around 5.5-6 years ) so you can use beyond just the plane ride.

Re: Best Car Seat for Airplanes
We have a bunch of carseats.
We have gotten a carseat carrier from a friend for free (they run under $100 & I've seen ones for about $50). We have the old version of this model:
http://www.gogobabyz.com/products-q10226-Travelmate_Family.aspx
We like to carry our own carseat. We either gate check it (they handle it very gently on jetblue: I've watched) or install it in the plane on the seat (with the convertible: not the 5 point harness). Both kids would sleep in it. We would stick it in the cab or rental car & put it in a closet. It's just another luggage on wheels & has never really bothered us.
We have traveled a fair amount & have definitely gotten our money's worth from this (even though we got it for FREE, we would have if we paid full price as it fits the Britax convertibles & the Britax 5 point harness that we use now).
