Anyone have Hashimoto's

After many many many years of symptoms & no one knowing what's wrong with me....finally a test came back positive, which led me to a rheumatologist who tested me for every possible autoimmune disease...turns out i have "an" autoimmune disease of my thyroid, but they didn't know what.

It wasn't until I asked for a referral to an endocrinologist, that I was further tested. My thyroid measures normal, but I have Hashimotos. And autoimmune idease of my thyroid (basically my body attacks my thyroid). The symptoms have been horrible, but I'm glad to have an answer & not move foward with lifestyle changes to manage it.

I figured I'd ask if anyone has it & has been able to manage it.

I have had it for many years. Mine was found during a routine physical and the doctor did not even tell me he was testing me (which is fine by me). I am/was overweight and no one had EVER mentioned that I could have a thyroid problem. I was started on 25 mcgr of Synthroid and now am at 175, a pretty hefty dose. My endo says my thyroid is not functioning at all anymore.

I still feel symptoms, but have since been diagnosed with other autoimmune illnesses (Lupus and Fibromyalgia), so its hard to say what's casing the symptoms half the time. Keep in mind that with one autoimmune disease you are much more likely to develop others as well.

There is an Autoimmune Paleo Diet that is supposed to help and I have heard that people can go into remission on it, but I find it way too hard to follow. Gluten free can do wonders too.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

I have it. I am on my 5th endo Bc they're all useless IMO. They push synthroid and despite my perfect numbers I didn't feel good all the time. Finally I had to beg and fight this 5th endo to put me on amour which is made from a pig thyroid. It gives you T 1 2 3 4 and 5. Synthroid gives you only T 4 which you are supposed to covert to 3 on your own.

Anyway I feel a lot better. But more research is showing I am not taking it correctly. One pill in am and I should be doing half my dose in am and half at about 3pm.

I went gluten free and my thyroid antibodies dropped from 100 to 75 in 2mos. By 4mos they were at 65 and now it's been almost a year and I am due to have them rechecked.

There are a bunch of Facebook groups I follow. They're ONE million times better than my endo. Also wellness mama has a blog. She's amazing and has hashimotos herself.

If my doc didn't rx me the amour I was about to shell or $500 and see a hollistic practitioner. Basically I use my endo for the amour and to schedule me lab tests where I read the results myself. Bc normal for them is different then what it should be.

And if you take away one thing I've said it always treat the symptoms and not the numbers! My numbers have always been great. And tsh numbers alone mean nothing. Good luck. It's a longggg journey on educating yourself and it sucks a@@ Bc I loved bread so hard.

I would be curious to hear what your symptoms are too? Doesn't seem very many people have what I feel. It's hard to describe for me.

Look up deliciously organic, how I reversed hashimotos on Google.

Re: Anyone have Hashimoto's

Leb....that's exactly it! Everything is new & im in a whirlwind of researching! I can tell I'm not going to like my endo, because I left the office with "see you back in 3 months", & a photocopy I could have googled. Nothing about gluten, paleo, etc.
My numbers are fine, so he won't put me on rx (& I'm ok with it....but he offered no lifestyle treatment either.

So I'm researching natural type Drs (which I never thought I'd do!)

Going gluten free, maybe even paleo...scares me, because I love food, & never thought I'd have to restrict myself. But I don't want a roller coaster of days anymore either!!!!
