Replacement railing?
We just bought a split, and have an ancient, ugly, painted wrought-iron railing. We want to replace it with wood. Not looking for the highest-price custom deal; we just want a simple wooden railing that's safe for young children going across the "balcony" area (maybe about 6 ft) and down the 5 steps we have between the main floor and bedrooms.
Can anyone ballpark what a replacement bannister would cost? Any recommendations for a person/company for the removal and install?

Re: Replacement railing?
I've used Angel Fence & Railing twice and have been very pleased. Try them for a quote. Good luck!

We used Bill Elliott for my wood railing. Affordable and just a great guy. Several other girls on LIF have used him as well. You can do a search for his name and see pictures too. His number is 516-236-4158.

Replacement railing?
I used Bill at the end of April for my split colonial. He was half the price of Deer Park railing and did a great job!! Definitely give him a call!

Re: Replacement railing?
we replaced a painted wrought iron metal railing with a wood banister (pretty simple style although we needed a huge banister as our top floor wraps around). we used a step above stairbuilders and were happy with them

Replacement railing?
It all depends on how much you have to replace and each section…..it will vary. We only had the main stairway in my Cape to replace, and we chose to do it as 2 separate pieces to make it easier for when we renovated since the top piece could come down without taking out the whole staircase. I *think* it was around $800 7 years ago, but I could be wrong.
