Preparing for baby checklist?
Is there a preparing for baby checklist? Like there used to be a bridal checklist on LIW lol
Time is getting closer and with my scatterbrain I just want to make sure I don't forget anything.

Preparing for baby checklist?
Here it is! This was for me personally - stuff fI didn't get off registry and etc. I updated it after my DD came and added a few notes!
Last minute “must have” list
These were some last minute things I stocked up before the baby came. I did not want to run to Babies R Us 5,000x after the birth. Although we did end up there A LOT.
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Diaper rash cream (any brand is fine but I like Butt Paste)
- Alcohol and cotton balls for belly button/umbilical cord
- Changing pad liners (Carters Keep Me dry 2 pack quilted pads are good. We have 4 total)
- Nursing Bras (I started with 2 Medela soft bras)
- Nursing tank tops (I lived in these, I like the Motherhood maternity ones, I had 5)
- Lansinoh Soothie gel pads for nips (that you can put in the fridge/freezer)
- Disposable nursing pads for bras (Lansinoh ones are the softest but the Medela ones are cheaper)
- Washable nursing pads – I don’t love these but good to have a few on hand
- Lansinoh Lanolin cream for nips
- Medela Quick Clean bags – for quick sterilizing (bottles or pump parts)
- Maxi pads, 1-2 bags of them (Always Infinity Pads are thin but very absorbent)
- Tucks or Hemorrhoid Cream (can steal from hospital)
(PS – be sure to steal everything you can from the hospital! The ice pack pads from the hospital are the best!)
- Stool softener (may be needed)
- Onesies (at least 5 in newborn size and some in bigger sizes)
- Clothes – newborn pjs with the hand covers were the most comfy for the first month, don’t go crazy with cute outfits…they are a pain to change and they grow out of them so fast.
- Scratch mittens (we bought some but they always fell off her)
- Baby hats
- Little Tummies Gas Drops & Gripe water (for gas or belly problems)
- Snot sucker (the hospital gave me a good one, I actually took 3 from the hospital)
- Rectal Thermometer
- Baby nail file and clipper
- Swaddles (Aiden & Anais brand are great or the Miracle Blanket)
- Several boxes of trash bags for diaper genie or whatever diaper pail you have
- Burp Cloths (the Gerber cloth diapers are the best, comes in 5 pack $12.99 – get 10 total)
- 2 mattress pads and 2 sheets for crib
- Outfit to take baby home in
- Binkies – we had 2 packs of 2 different kinds…she ended up hating all brands
- Bath Soap – we used J&J light yellow soap and no lotion at first. Many baby lotions are gimmicky….we haven’t touched any of our 3 tubes of Aveeno yet. Addison got eczema at 8 weeks and we started using Eucerin cream – the one in a tub and Aquaphor on her face.
Other notes –We get a lot of use out of our swing and playmat. We have a rock-n-play but not a bouncy seat. A boppy or my-breast-friend helps when breastfeeding.
Reminder - Cook and freeze lots of meals before baby comes! Buy food you can eat with one hand or microwavable lunches! Don’t stress about housework for the first 6-8 weeks…you will be exhausted, just get rest and take care of that baby!
