Does anyone live in the Medford area? We found a house we love- we have been searching for months so it makes me feel too good to be true! It meets all our criteria except 1 which isn't a huge deal and budget. It's in the Eagle Estates development does anyone live in there or have any reviews?
TIA

I grew up in Patchogue and Eagle Estates was kind of considered "the hood". Also the Pat/Med school district is not doing to well.

I dont live in the area but have a few people at work that does. From what they have said Eagle Estates doesn't seem to be the greatest area of Medford.

When we were looking for houses, I found a few in that area that I thought were amazing for the price, but after speaking with a bunch of friends who are cops we decided against it.

And I know a few policemen and other law enforcment people that live there. Why would they if its unsafe?

Not a good area at all. Definitely considered "the hood."

Me too and live next to a retired cop who's been here 35 years.... Every area has problems but it's far from a hood Working middle class sure..but If by hood you mean residents who keep up lawns and houses, don't have wild parties, no one on street corners or loitering on streets then maybe it is hood lol

Re: Medford
I don't know much about Medford, but I do know that people on Long Island tend to use terms like "hood" and "bad" in rather creative ways; I would just keep that fact in mind.

I grew up in eagle estates, 3 blocks from the elementary school and it is a great neighborhood. My parents still live there. Like any area, there are some not as nice blocks but we are considering buying in there because of the neighborhood. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Oh come on, it's definitely not "the hood". Like most areas you have your good and bad but it's a perfectly fine area and it now has the most AMAZING Superintendent!

I have no experience with Medford but in general I've realized that Long Islanders have very skewed views of what's considered a "bad" neighborhood or school district. Some people on the island are very sheltered for sure
