Coincidence or not?
My dd (8 years old) had a lone star tick imbedded in her scalp. We found it Tuesday but it seems it was there for at least a few days before. Monday night she started running a fever and complaining of a headache. Symptoms continued yesterday and today. When she is Tylenol in her system, she can function a little. Without she is a blob on the couch. Her younger sister had a fever on Monday morning as well, but it never progressed into anything and by Monday afternoon it was gone. Related to the tick or not? Either way we are seeing the doctor tomorrow if she is still sick.

There is a fever virus going around so it could be a coincidence or a side effect. I know ur going to the ped tomorrow but can u call the emergency number and ask if u should be doing anything else?

Re: Coincidence or not?
We removed the tick ourselves. My pediatrician has never been overly concerned with seeing my kids when they have had ticks in the past...they have said to wait and see if there are any symptoms or a rash since it could simply be a tick bite and not an infection with Lymes, etc. I think ticks are much more common than people think and most of the time it doesn't mean Lymes disease. I wouldn't test my kids for Lymes unless they showed symptoms or a rash.

Re: Coincidence or not?
My son had a tick on him a few months ago. We removed the tick and put it in a clear plastic ziplock bag. The doctor said only to bring him in if he shows any symptoms or if we weren't sure if we removed the whole thing. We live in CT and doctor suggested contacting the town. Our town does free testing on ticks to see if they carry Lyme. I'm not sure if they do that on Long Island, but you can contact the town health department. We found it on Saturday and put ziplock bag with the tick in the freezer until we took it to the town on Monday.

Re: Coincidence or not?
If your other daughter had a fever, and no tick on her, then I would absolutely say coincidence.

Coincidence or not?
I would say coincidence. My son had a fever virus last week in which he just had a fever and a headache.
