Watermelon "cake"
Had anyone made this? You know with the whole watermelon and then you put whipped cream on the outside? How does it hold up? Did you make your own whipped cream? Can you use cool whip?

I haven't but I am sure cool whip would work much better because it's so much thicker. I feel like whipped cream would get watery and run off the watermelon because it's so wet. If you made fresh whipped cream and put it on right before serving that might be ok also.

Watermelon
I dont know if you made it but I did a couple summers ago. It was a huge pinterest fail! I used cool whip which did become runny and wouldnt stay on. It looked ugly but tasted ok. It was watermelon with a little cool whip.

Re: Watermelon "cake"
You could probably make a whipped cre with gelatin to stabilize it. I could see it being a Pinterest fail! Watermelon is so liquidy!

Re: Watermelon "cake"
It seems like a lot of work for bascially a watermelon with whipped cream on it.
I watched a you tube video and when I saw the finished product I was like, Damn if I saw that pretty "cake" and then cut into it to find it wasn't cake in there but WATERMELON I'd be terribly disappointed!

Re: Watermelon "cake"
The only way this could possibly work withough being a total dister of liquid 'whipped cream' would be if the watermelom wasn't even CLOSE to being ripe - which would look pretty, and taste digusting.
For all of that work, you're better off doing melon balls with the whipped cream on the side.
