Did your RE do a rectal exam?
I had my first consultation with an RE yesterday and during the exam he said he usually likes to do a rectal exam as well. I said we'd be skipping that!
My gyno has never done a rectal, and nobody ever suggested this was necessary during my pregnancy with my DD either.
So why is it necessary now? Is there something I'm missing?
I wish I would have just asked the doc why he does them, but I was so shocked I couldn't think straight.

We probably have the same RE because he basically told me the same word for word.
I said do I have to? He said no. I said OK; no then. 
I guess like anything else; its precautionary. Not necessarily for IF related reasons; maybe moreso for rectal health reasons.
But I did skip it.
A friend of mine actually has her gyno do it. I never had a gyno ask me though.

I had that from the RE in Cornell only and he did it to check for pain in my cup de sac area where I have the endo. They check it also for a prolapsed uterus and prolapsed vagina/rectum area.

many ob-gyn do a recto-vag exam. It checks for abdominal mass, your uterus etc. I am very surprised no ones Ob ever did one. RE never did on but my RE never performed a real exam

My RE NEVER did a rectal exam and never brought it up.
