Furniture to donate
Is anyone aware of a non-profit organization that will pick up furniture from your home as a donation? I am in Suffolk.

Furniture to donate
There are several that send a van around once month. My sister found them when we were emptying Mom's house. Might have been Big Brother Big Sister, or a veterans group. One came from New Jersey. Hunt around on google a boot and you should find them.

Re: Furniture to donate
I'm pretty sure BBBS does. You may have to get it out of the house though. I think there was a post a few weeks ago that someone had tried and most won't come in your home.

Furniture to donate
Salvation Army. Also ReStore (the Habitat for Humanity store) used to pick up from my job, not sure if they pick up from residents.

Re: Furniture to donate
It also depends what it is. I had a dresser to donate and NOBODY wanted it without a full bedroom set. I ended up putting it at the curb and someone took it over night.
Also, some of them are SO picky. My friends tried to donate 2 couches and Salvation Army refused them due to cat hair. She had vacuumed them but missed a spot in the back and they said no.

Re: Furniture to donate
Habitat for Humanity. They have Long Island Locations and will pick up.
We took photos of what we were donating and sent them with an email request. They called us back with a pick-up date and time.
