Induction Scheduled

I went to the dr this morning and I'm 3cm dilated. My induction is scheduled for next Tues at 7p Chat Icon Dr said I may go earlier on my own.

I'm SO not ready. Hospital bag isn't packed, baby's clothes are not washed, nursery is not ready, large baby items are not out of storage and cleaned, and need to do a baby shopping run. Trying to wrap stuff up for work and my house is an absolute disaster.

On top of this, 2 yo DD who has been a terror for a while is actually even worse. I literally had a breakdown this afternoon and was hysterical. Of course, she has a cold, hasn't been napping well, and lots of changes coming up. I have no patience right now and spend my days yelling at her. Feel like the worst mama in the world. Don't know how I'm going to handle her and a newborn.

Don't get down on yourself! My 2 1/2 year old son has been a terror lately too and I had my baby girl 2 weeks ago. It's a bit of an adjustment and I feel like I yell at him all day too but he's a great big brother and I don't think he's jealous, I think it's just the age! Hang in there! You'll be fine and everything will work out!

Order all of the baby stuff online from Amazon and it will be here in two days. I just bought what I need for DD3 and the list is short - diapers, wipes, ointment, shampoo, bottle brush and pacifiers. I have new bottles from DD2 I never used, but add those to the list if you need new ones.

It takes 2 hours to do wash - worse case scenario DH will do it while you are in the hospital.

Pack up what you can tonight for the hospital and make a list of what you need to pack - you should have time once labor starts to finish packing if need be.

Don't worry about your DD - she will be fine. She will adjust quickly.

It will all get done one way or another. And as a BTDT mom, you know you can get by on very little in the beginning! You are almost there!

This!

I was going to say - let Amazon do the shopping for you - - - and don't worry about washing EVERYTHING. Make sure you have a few onesies, blankets, burp cloths and whatever else you deem absolutely necessary. Wash the rest once you're home. With a two week old of my own, I can attest to not needing to have everything washed - just the basics.

Good luck.

Most importantly - best wishes for a smooth induction!

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement. I got caught up in the everyday craziness of life without looking at the big picture. Sometimes we just need to hear the reality from others. Chat Icon
