How/when do you find out your kid's teacher for the next year?
Just curious...
Our district mails out the letters about a week before school starts, usually arriving on a Friday. Then the phone blows up with texts with everyone asking who their kids have, haha.
Growing up, we found out our teachers on our last report card, which was nice because you could find out who was in your class. I've heard schools don't do this anymore bc too many parents complain about assignments--I can totally see that!

You pretty much explained our school as well. We most likely will get it Labor Day weekend right before school starts.
Kind of annoying, but I understand why they do it as well. Frustrating for parents who don't complain. LOL!
I remember getting teachers end of the school year as well and talking to friends about it before camp.

How/when do you find out your kid's teacher for the next year?
We find out the Thursday or Friday before school starts. We don't even get letters, they are put up on the parent portal.

It's on our kids report cards (kindergarteners get a letter in July with the teacher and the supply list).

We find out the week before so people won't be calling or going up to the schools to try and change the teacher they got.
We always found out the first day of school so I find this to be early.

We just found out today, which in my opinion is too late. Ran to Target and certain items are already totally sold out. Im annoyed as I dont have time to go to 5 stores looking for specific supplies. They should have told us weeks ago.

Our district is usually the week before schools starts. I can't stand it!
I asked a friend (who has had kids in the district longer than me) and she said they don't send out the teacher assignments earlier b/c people will complain and try to switch.
I can understand that, but I can't imagine that it would be THAT many people! And seriously, if someone is going to make a stink to change a teacher, better that it happen sooner rather than later.

Our district had been mailing letters in the middle of August. This year, they changed the process and now we receive an email at the end of July.
When I was a kid, I remember always coming back from vacation around Labor Day and stopping by the elementary school to look at the class lists and teacher assignments that were posted on the front door.

ours are mailed out the last day of school, so we usually get it within a couple of day after. They've been doing it this way for years.

I am waiting, I heard the letters were mailed Monday but we would have had them by now. DD is going to a new school this year (same district, went to a K-2 school and moving to the 3-5 in Sept.) but when she went to 1st and 2nd the teacher info was actually on her report card in June which made me happy.

Week before. Annoying, but that's how they do it. Parents that are going to complain will just do it after school starts, so I don't understand that logic.

we find out the first day of school when they line up, its a catholic school, only 2 classes per grade so its not as chaotic as it would seem

We found out towards the end of the school year only because my DD's class is looping. Generally it's a week or 2 prior to the start of the school year. I agree it would be nice to find out earlier but totally understand why they wait.

We just got ours today. My older ds is going into 4th and we got his teacher assignment. My younger one is starting kindergarten and we got a note basically saying that he's getting a brand new kindergarten teacher who is yet to be hired. I am NOT happy.

How/when do you find out your kid's teacher for the next year?
Last year they gave out teachers the last day of school. Everyone was calling up and complaining and trying to change teachers so this year they went back to mid summer. We found out the second week of July. Our supply lists are up at the end of the school though. They are generic per grade and there may be a few items that are specific to the teacher so it's not really a big deal.

This is how it works in the schools I have worked in. With the last school I was in I wasn't given a class list until 4-5 days before school started and I wasn't allowed to put the names of my students on anything until the first day (just in case parents came in our classrooms when we weren't there to see if their child's name was there).

School supplies are kind of a moot point because most buy the pack through the PTA. They are school/grade specific not teacher specific so there is not need to scramble last minute.
My older one will find out her teacher this Thursday on the parent portal. I understand the school will be mailing my younger child's placement sometime mid next week.
I understand it is only 1-2 weeks before because of parent complaints. We have open house days the following week but they really are only to show you where the classroom is because most teachers do not come during that time and last year my older one couldn't see the classroom because it wasn't decorated and it was locked.

Our school everyone finds out in June except Kindergarten. Supply lists are on website.

I still don't know if my son is in AM kindergarten or PM because I'm in "the grey zone."
