Depends on the dr. It's either 3 or 4 - 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 20 weeks. Some throw in a 32 week growth sono.

Re: if you are not considered high risk or AMA.. how many sonograms

We did
6,9,12, 16, 20
I will have another at 27 weeks to check placenta it was a bit low at 20 week.
Then I will have at least one other growth sono.

I had more this time than with any of my other kids - dr said my insurance covers more.

Re: if you are not considered high risk or AMA.. how many sonograms

I'm not high risk, and my sonos confuse me a bit. With DD it was at 8wks, 20wks, & later in 3rd trimester, I can't remember exact week. (I also had one at 17wks because I was paranoid about some pressure and wanted it checked).

This pregnancy I had one at 6wks, 8wks, & 18wks. I assume that I SHOULD get another one in third trimester, but I was just recently told by one of the nurses there that I won't have anymore unless there's a concern. Chat Icon

Re: if you are not considered high risk or AMA.. how many sonograms

My first pregnancy was a triplet pregnancy after fertility treatments so I was considered extremely high risk. I had a sonogram every week from 5weeks-11weeks at my RE and then every 2 weeks going forward at my OB and my MFM. At 22 weeks my daughter started having blood flow issues and I started getting sonograms every week, but 26 weeks I was every other day and for my last 2 weeks of my pregnancy I was daily....I gave birth at exactly 30 weeks. I seriously felt like I lived under a sono machine. This time around I am not a high risk patient and its completely different. I had one a 8 weeks, doppler at 10 weeks, sono at 12 weeks, and my next sono isnt until 20 weeks.

Re: if you are not considered high risk or AMA.. how many sonograms

With my first pregnancy I had so many sonos - different practice and high blood pressure. It was 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks and then monthly from 24 weeks on.

With this pregnancy it has been 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks and then dr. mentioned another one later but didn't say exactly when.

Re: if you are not considered high risk or AMA.. how many sonograms

2 internals in the beginning (8&10 weeks I think)

Regular at 12 and 20, and there will be another growth sono in the mid-30's week

I conceived at age 34 but will be 35 at about 15 weeks, will I be considered "high risk" or not? Do you know if it based on when you conceive or when you give birth?

I am over 35 and healthy. My OB said I am not high risk. The only thing is I was offered genetic testing at 11 weeks.
I have had 2 US one at 7 weeks and 1 at 11. My next wont be until 20 weeks.

Same. Even though I'm AMA this time around, I'm not being treated any differently. My sonos were no different than others: 8 weeks, 12 weeks (NT Scan), 20 weeks, and 32 weeks (growth sono).

Interesting, thanks! My first appointment real appointment isn't until a little over 11 weeks due to my doctor's scheduling...which also scares me a bit. I wonder if they will offer genetic testing then too.
