BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I was induced with my first pregnancy so I don't know what it's like to go into labor outside of the controlled hospital environment. There's just something about the way I've been feeling that makes me think I'll go into labor on my own... I could be completely wrong but just in case...
If you went into labor, did your water break, then you started contracting? Were you contracting first and then realized it was the real deal and hospital time? Was it before or after your due date?!
Tell me all things TIA!!

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I was in that situation. Induced over a week later with my first & I wondered if I'd even know I was in labor or what to expect for my second.
It was exactly on my due date that I went into labor.
The day before I walked a ton, lifted my older son, and actually had an appointment that night & my ob didn't even check me & was talking about inducing the next week if I didn't go into labor on my own. I remember thinking maybe I should insist he check me because I felt a little off & my lower back hurt (I thought it was just from running around a lot with my son), but I pushed it out of my mind because I still didn't think I was about to go into labor.
Then I woke up about 4 in the morning to pee & I just felt different. Didn't feel right. I tried to fall asleep again but couldn't so I knew something wasn't right. I woke up dh after a while & told him I didn't know if this was the real deal, but he couldn't go to work that day because I wasn't feeling well enough to care for my older ds. Felt like bad menstrual cramps, then I realized they were contractions. It would come on like a wave, increasing pain, hit a peak, then go away. It was every few minutes. It became more & more painful too. I went to the hospital a few hours later & I was almost 6 cm & bulging. My water didn't break on its own, they broke it for me a few hours later. I progressed on my own & ds was born at 1:30pm.

BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I was going to post something similar today! I was also induced with #1 so now that I'm almost 38w I'm freaking out that I won't know I'm in labor and that I won't get to the hospital in time or that I'm not ready. Every little pressure I feel has me stopping in my tracks!

BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I went to the doctor and he checked me and I may have been 3cm, it was 38w3d. He said I'd have a quick labor but that I'd have to wait a few weeks probably. I decided to go shopping and felt really achy and tired, but wasn't contracting.
Came home and had to pee--my water broke on the toilet! I had been sleeping on a towel over a hospital chuck because I was afraid it would break in bed and we have a memory foam mattress with no mattress pad.
Contractions didn't start until maybe an hour or two later... When my water broke, I called the OB and he asked how far apart they were and I was like "How do I know? I can't tell" and they were shocked.
DD was born almost 24 hours after my water broke. Dr said if I didn't hurry up and push her out in the next 30 min, it was C-section time for me. That did it.

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
My water broke three weeks early while I was sitting on the couch, but it was a steady trickle. Not a gush of water. We went right to the hospital and they inserted cervedil to thin my cervix and I started feeling contractions.

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
2 days before my due date I started feeling some odd feelings- which i now know where irregular, far apart contractions. Like a tightening in my belly that would kind of stop me in my tracks a bit, but nothing bad and definitely far apart and all over the place. I worked from home that day because I just wasn't sure what it was
The next morning (1 day before my due date) I woke at 2 am with some more intense pain. I couldn't get comfortable or back to sleep so I went on the couch around 330 am and started timing them with an app on my phone.
By 6 am they were getting pretty regular and closer together so I called the Dr's service. The Dr called me back, she was at the hospital for some scheduled C sections with her husband (her partner in the practice) and said to come in to get checked.
I arrived at the hospital at around 730 or so and once they got me checked in etc, they Dr came and checked me and I was at 4-5 cm already!
My water never broke, he broke it for me in L&D

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
With DS #1 and #3 I went into labor after my due date. Both I lost my mucus plug the day I went into labor. With DS #1 it took me awhile to figure out I was in labor but I started throwing up and then it hit me - I'm in labor. I labored at home for awhile and then went to the hospital the next morning.
DS #3 - I was having minor cramping in the evening and then around 9 I started to get sick and said I guess it is labor time. I put kids to bed and then went to hospital around 11 - ds was born at 2:21 in the am.
DS#2 - I was induced a few days early

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
First pregnancy - Day before I felt really tired. The morning of I was even more tired, then started spotting. I wasn't feel any contractions so I called my OB. She told me to come in to get checked. On my drive in, I started getting contractions - just felt like period cramps that came and went. Baby was breech so I went to hospital for a c-section.
Second pregnancy- Day before I had some very minor spotting in the morning that went away. As the day progressed I started to feel very achy and felt like I was getting sick (flu-like symptoms). My 5pm I climbed into bed and decided I was getting sick. Around 8pm I started feeling very minor contractions. Contractions got closer together overnight and baby was born the next morning via VBAC.

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
My back was killing me the night before. I thought it was Braxton hicks and the fact that I walked too much that day (month early) my water broke in the early morning. I was apparently contracting pretty regularly when I got to the hospital but I didn't feel them yet. I think it was all the denial I was in.

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I was 5 days past my due date and had a dr appt..Had been no movement on dilation for over a week (was at 3cm) so we scheduled induction for a few days later.
Had a terrible night's sleep that night (like other girls said, felt a little off) and woke up at 6am with some pretty strong contractions. There was no mistaking it.
By the time I got to the hospital in the city around 8am I was 7cm dilated and contractions so strong I could barely talk. My water never broke. DS was born at 12:11.

BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
On a Friday afternoon in late July (2013), I came home from Walmart and found a big wet spot in my underwear. I thought it was sweat or pee and didn't make anything of it. I was really huge by that point and it was hot so this kind of stuff was happening to me. I felt fine. The next day we went back to walmart (we had just bought a house so we needed something from walmart like every day). I felt really uncomfortable. I would describe it as waves of discomfort. I remember at one point leaning on a display of cases of gatorade bc i was like, ouch. My husband thought I was being a big cry baby bc I didnt want to shop anymore (lol what an arse). I said I had to use the bathroom. Mainly just because I wanted to sit for a second and be somewhere quiet. In the bathroom I saw another wet spot, very small. So this is about 18 hrs later. We went to Babies r us where we were meeting my inlaws for them to buy us the crib. I didnt realize I was having contractions. I was saying "my back hurts." I sat in a slider that was for sale and I didnt care at all about the crib. I was nasty and irritable to everyone. lol. We went home and i was working on a diy decor project for the nursery and my friend text me. I remembered then that when she had her son she told me she hadnt realized her water broke for like at least 24 hrs because it was a slow trickle. I was like Bruce Willis at the end of the Sixth Sense. Holy Crap Im in labor. lol. It was so ridiculous. I guess I was in denial.

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
With DS#1, my water broke. There was no question it was my water that broke and I went right to the hospital.
With DS#2, I had a much more annoying experience. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling crampy. In the morning I woke up and felt ok but as soon as I started my routine, I started contracting. It initially felt like I was having BM type cramping every 2-3 minutes but as they progressed it changes and you can tell its definitely your uterus contracting. I went to the hospital and everything slowed down so they sent me home. I vacuumed, did laundry, walked and walked and walked some more until I knew that it was the real deal. You will know. There is no mistaking it!
I had both boys at 38 weeks

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
i was induced with my first too so i didn't know what to expect either with my second. about three days before i started to feel a little weird. told my husband something felt off. not painful, just different. wednesday morning i went to the doctor and she was like "oh your cervix is SO GOOD AND SOFT" and i was around 3 cm. that night as i was lying in bed i felt POP. and it HURT. it was a good 60 seconds before the pain passed and i could call down to my husband that my water had broken. thankfully, due to my quick labor with my first, the doctor had told me that morning that if my water broke to go immediately to the hospital, so i took a quick shower, got my parents over and had my first contraction. next contraction was 7 minutes later. next one was 3 minutes later. by the time i got to the hospital i couldnt walk or talk. from water breaking to birth was under 2 hours. it was crazy.
best of luck to you!!!!

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
I was induced with my first as well so I understand your concerns.
But I can tell you don't worry; I know everyone says it but it's true, you'll know when you're in labor!!! Trust me!!!
First I had my bloody show and about an hour later contractions started. You will know. They are consistent and don't go away. They increase in intensity and become closer together. But I knew. They were consistent timeable contractions! Water didn't break until I was in the hospital.
Good luck!

Re: BTDT - tell me about going into labor!
With my first, my water broke around 1am - no contractions until about 7am then she was born at 11:26am.
With #2 He was breach so I had a scheduled C-section scheduled for 4/8, but on 4/4 I suddenly went into labor with horrible back labor at 7:50am, my water never broke. He was still breach, so I was rushed into an emergency C-section and he was born at 10:53am.
