Will be returning to work force
I last worked in HR back in 2007 ...had my two kids now looking to go back soon. My master's degree is in HR but have heard a lot of bad things about HR lately. From my exp it is the department that gets cut first, does not get paid much, the dept to least likely allow you to work from home... is the department that other departments have not respect for etc. Anyone know someone who has left HR and transitioned into another field? I majored in English undergrad with the M.S. in HR. I had about 10 years experience in HR. To go back I need to earn at least $50k.

Also making the Reddit suggestion since this board doesn't get a lot of traffic. They seem to have forums on everything!
I've seen mixed things with HR in all my places of business.
I also think in general going back to work after a long absence, you have to be open-minded and not super-picky about stuff, especially if it gives you a foot-in or opportunity to advance.
As for not respecting HR.....in my current place of work (largest employer on LI), it's just frustrating because the dept is so non-responsive. It could be that they are busy and overhwelmed but this is even with Dept heads pushing them for months to onboard people.
