Surprise Birthday
My friend is planning her boyfriend's surprise 35th birthday party. She is looking for a laid back, casual place where there can be buffet style food, drinks and people can come and go as they please. Can anyone recommend a place in either Queens or Nassau.

do you mean at a place. Peppercorns has a room and offers buffet food.
Otherwise, may be at a hall like VFW

I've never had a party at Peppercorns but they have the best flavored martinis. And STRONG. The food is good too. At least from what I remember (which isn't much)

Duggans in floral park has a great party room. It's upstairs so you can come and go as you please, and their food is so good!

I had a party and they did a great job, totally focused on you and your guests.
