Natural miscarriage
I don't know where to all this but i figure someone here may know the answer. I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum at 9 weeks, a week ago. I have an appointment with a new doctor for a second opinion next week. I chose to let things happen naturally because I'm not convinced things are over. Has anyone had experience with a natural miscarriage? How long could it take to get started? Feel free to send me an fm if that's easier for you. Thanks in advance.

Re: Natural miscarriage
I'm so sorry for your loss. I has a blighted ovum with my pregnancy right before I got pregnant with my twins. If I remember correctly, i was a little over 10 weeks when it was diagnosed and my Dr. suggested a D&C. When they suspected it was a BO I was 8 weeks and they had me come back 1x per week for two weeks to see if anything changed. At that point, nothing was growing/changing. There was no HB where it would have been detected already so I knew it was over. At first I was going to wait for it to happen naturally but decided to have the D&C. I just wanted it to be over so I could try again.
Good luck.

Natural miscarriage
I had a natural mc at 9w, I wouldn't ever have one again if I had a choice. It's incredibly painful, and I ended up needing a d&c anyway because of retained tissue. It was 2w from my last appt when it happened. But there's no way to know when it will happen.

Re: Natural miscarriage
I never experienced a blighted ovum, but regrettably I have had 6 miscarriages while trying for both DD (who is 4 now) and DS (who is due in Dec). I've never had a D&C, they were all ones that I passed naturally on my own. But they were also all very early. My latest one went to 6wks and that one actually did take a while to pass. I'm not sure how long it will be for you, but I just want to say that I'm so sorry for your loss and I do understand the awful pain (both physically and emotionally) that comes with it

Natural miscarriage
I was told i was miscarrying early on, but then my levels kept rising slowly. It got to a point where they said I was probably having an ectopic, but never actually saw anything. I was in the same position as you; I was upset and still hopeful that they were wrong, and the miracle stories you read on google definitely do not help. At the end of the day, regardless on whether or not it would "stick", it was an abnormal pregnancy. Take some solace in knowing that even if there is that slim chance that it could be, you would probably be better off starting fresh with a healthy pregnancy, as you will never know what complications could arise as a result of this.
I sat around for weeks waiting and waiting, and my levels never dropped. I ended up needing a methotrexate injection to get it all going. It is very very painful when the natural mc begins to happen, so just be aware of that just incase. I did not know how painful it would be because my doctor never told me anything about it. I ended up going to the ER for severe abdominal cramps to the point where I was doubled over in pain. If you could get a d&c, do it. I wish I could have, but since mine was located outside of the uterus, I needed the injection to force a natural mc.
Also, if you have a natural mc, be prepared to be waiting a LONG time before your levels go to 0. I got pregnant in May, and I still haven't gotten AF yet (should be here on Sunday). It's terrible to have it dragged out so long. Get a d&c if you can, because it's depressing to have to get bloodwork once a week for 3 months straight!

Natural miscarriage
I'm so so sorry. I've had a few natural miscarriages most very early on but my last one was at 6.5 weeks blighted ovum. I did need to get my HCG levels measured to make sure they were going down and a sono to make sure that the sac passed. It took around 2 weeks for the entire process to finish and it was more emotionally draining then physically painful in my case.

Re: Natural miscarriage
Thanks so much for all the comments. I know this will most likely end bad but i just can't get a d&c without knowing 100% things are over. At the last sonogram the doctor said nothing changed but there was significant change in my eyes. There was a yolk sac which was not there the time before. The sac had also never been empty so i really don't understand how he can call it a blighted ovum. I'm trying to ballgame my hope with my concerns but as you all know that is beyond possible!

Re: Natural miscarriage
I'm sorry you're going through this.
I know you are holding onto hope but even at 9 weeks there should be more than just a yolk sac which sounds like a blighted ovum. I don't recommend a natural miscarriage not even to my patients. A d&C recovery is much quicker and easier and they can send the tissue to pathology to determine what exactly happened.
Good Luck.

Re: Natural miscarriage
I'm so sorry you are faced with this. I learned at my 8w appointment that there was no more HB, looking back the HB was only 81 at 7w, so my doctor probably knew something wasn't right but I was going on vacation the next day so he was probably protecting me. I chose a D&C because I needed to take back control of my body. The procedure itself left me with little pain (slight cramping) and light bleeding for a few days. I felt better once the procedure was past me and I was able to start focusing on trying again. It's truly the worst thing I've gone through especially since we struggled to conceive but the procedure itself was horrible. Again I am so sorry and if you need anything please do not hesitate to FM me!

Re: Natural miscarriage
Miscarriage started on Tuesday. I'm still in a lot of pain but i went to the doctor yesterday and he did a quick procedure to remove most of the stiff without having to do a full d&c.

Re: Natural miscarriage
I had a natural miscarriage in June of this year. I was about 8 weeks along and mostly had a blighted ovum. I passed everything naturally. I didn't experience a lot of physical pain and it took a little over a week.
