Cholestasis?
I mentioned a itchy belly to my OB at my regular visit and is sending me to test for cholestasis. The test takes a WEEK to come back and now I'm a nervous wreck. I know it can cause major issues.
I'm a little confused because I'm reading and the main symptoms are itchy hands and feet- my hands and feet aren't itchy, just my belly and under my bra line.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Cholestasis?
I had really itchy legs and my belly was itchy when I had possible cholestasis - dr induced me as I had gall bladder issues and was 39 weeks.
How far along are you? I am really surprised the test takes a week to come back.

Re: Cholestasis?
I had it with both my pregnancies. It appeared about 33 weeks for me I had itchy hands and feet but but i aso was itchy other places (feet the worst). Usually worse at night. Its awful. I cried! Its an issue where bile gets into your blood stream. Its Miserable for the mom but dangerous for the baby. It can cause still birth. Dr does a blood test to see level of bile acides. 10 or more is cholestasis. Sometimes it needs to be preformed again to see if its rising. Earlier on i was at 7, 9 the 16 some people have numbers in the 100s. They also test yor liver functions. The second time I was out on a medication orsodile (sorry cant spell) and it helped so much. baby should be delivered at 37 weeks
Message me if you have questions
My tests never took a week

Cholestasis?
My sister had cholestasis- she was induced at about 37 weeks I think. She was itchy all over. Hope it comes back negative for you!

Cholestasis?
Thanks girls. I'm only 27 weeks, so while I'm ok with delivering early, delivering THIS early is problematic. I can't really find any info on outcomes when it develops so early. I know there is medication they can give to reduce bile levels.
I had upper right quadrant pain a few weeks ago that they sent me to L&D for so I'm thinking that's why my OB is being so proactive. They didn't find anything 2 weeks ago, but they only did basic LFTs and no bile acid, though they did do a sono. The pain is gone and has been for a while now.
The itching isn't terrible- certainly not what you girls describe and what I'm reading about. I don't know, I'm just really nervous and want baby to be ok. I don't care how much I itch or if the pain comes back, as long as she's ok I'm just fine.

Cholestasis?
I'm not aware of Cholestasis but I had a very itchy belly when I was pregnant with my DS. My OB said it was from the stretching and something with the nerves. I'm hoping that's all it is for you!!

Re: Cholestasis?
They would not deliver you at 27 weeks and there is medication you can take to help with the effects of the bile acids.
I went for biweekly nsts to ck fetal movement
