Trying to decide on different brands. Maybe choosing between Toto or Kohler...

Our old bathroom has Kohler and the two new ones have Toto. Hands down, Toto is better. And you don't have to get an expensive one either - for my son's bathroom we got one of the basic two pieces and we got an expensive one piece for our bathroom. They both work just as well and both stay really clean for a long time. Kohler is also good, but I think Toto is much better.

Thanks! We ordered a Toto Entrada for a small bath that has limited area. I was thinking of ordering one for a half bath downstairs but afraid it is too small looking. This one is really reasonable.

I got a Toto dual-flush for DC's bathroom. I would definitely get another Toto in the future.

We got the Toto Drake for my DS's bathroom. It is a two piece but I think it looks nice and it was very reasonable (when I bought it anyway). If they still sell that model, you should check it out and see what you think.

I did Toto in all 4 of my bathrooms. I shopped vanities for my powder room and kid's and guest bathroom, but I put the same level toilet in all my bathrooms. 6 years later, I'm still happy with that decision. The custom vanity for my master bath not so much...

I have Toto Ultramax toilets in my house. I like them a lot. we haven't had a "new" kohler so I can't really say, the ones in my parents house are from the late 80s and I never liked the way they worked.

I would say, I'm not sure if the hype on the Totos is a little overblown. They aren't clogproof, but they do work well.

I bought from faucetdirect.com and had them shipped. The first shipment had a broken one, so they replaced. But it was by far cheaper than getting locally.

I'll mention because no one else has said them, all of ours are Duravit, all within the last 4 years and have no complaints, easy to clean. I don't like the toilets that look like they have bowels on the side of them, I want really simple clean lines, that's about my only requirement.

I mean, it's a toilet, it flushes, not sure what else to say Chat Icon

We did Kohlers for our first remodel in 2007 (just changed toilets) and for our second in 2011 (added another bathroom) we went with a Gerber and are happy with it (it was recommended by the same plumbing supply store over the Kohler).

ETA - It's funny - I thought picking the faucet would be the hardest part of the process, I wasn't prepared for how hard selecting a toilet would be!!!

Thanks so much for the replies.

My other question, all the toilets are higher now. I am 5 foot tall and worried about the high toilets.

That's funny that you said that. I had no idea but we just got a new Kohler and it was the shortest one they had in the store. I CAN'T reach the floor! It never even crossed my mind. So annoying. I'm 5'2" btw

There are 2 different toilet heights. You can get a traditional height which is under 17" or you can get a comfort height toilet that measures 17"-19" (depends on the model).

We have the Kohler Cimmaron Touchless toilets in our 2 bathrooms. I like them so far! Ours are comfort height.

Most of them are 161/2. They call it comfort height. Then there is the standard height of 141/2, which there is not much options for.
