First appointment today!
What should I expect? They told me pelvic sono / exam.

First appointment today!
Yay! For my first appt it was internal sono, weight & BP, Rx for bloodwork, Rx for pre-natal vitamins, folders with lots of info and because I will be 35 when I deliver they went over the prenatal testing available. Then I just set up my next appt for the NT scan/12 week appt. GL!

It all went so quick. Went in, filled out paperwork and was asked to pee in a cup. They did a pelvic exam, breast exam, and a pap smear since I was wayyy overdue for one. Then we did the ultrasound (intrauterine)- saw the baby's heartbeat, heard the baby's heartbeat, and did some measurements- which were exactly as I expected- 7w3d. They calculated the due date and printed some photos for me to take home. I met with the doctor for about 20 minutes to discuss how I was feeling, medical history, what to stay away from, what to expect, when to schedule the next appointment and what to expect from it. They took some blood and I was on my way! I was done in an hour.

I specifically asked if it was an internal and they told me no, just a pelvic!! Should I mentally prepare for an internal lol?

How far along are you? My understanding is that the uterus is still behind the pelvic bone in the early stages and can't really be reached properly except through an intrauterine device. It was fine, really. I did prepare my DH though.  I sat him down and told him "Honey, you know in movies, when they put the gel on a woman's belly and they move that fancy wand around over it and boom there's the baby? Yeah, that's not going to happen." It's a good thing I did, too, because he's weird about stuff like that. He had to hold back laughter when he walked into the exam and there was a condom just hanging out on top of the wand for the internal exam.
ETA: Don't worry, it will be SOOOO worth it when you see that baby's heartbeat!!

First appointment today!
So exciting!! For my first appointment they did an internal, checked heartbeat, did measurements, took pictures, went over medical history, things I can/can't do. I also got paperwork to go to the Lab and get blood work done.
Every place is different so maybe prepare for an internal but if they said just a pelvic then I'm sure that's what you'll get.

First appointment today!
My first 3 appointments were all internal exams, not a big deal at all! I kind of liked them better than the external anyways, since I needed a full bladder for that! Good luck.

I never had an internal.. each dr is different. The only time I ever had an internal is when I went to the hospital for pains.. First appointment (I used 2 diff Drs and they were very similar) One didnt even DO a sono.. one did.. try to listen for HB... They did Vitals went over medical history, gave me samples for vitamins so I could pick which one worked best for me... Gave me paper work for dos & donts.. Sent me on my Merry Way.

May 23 and were totally finding out as soon as we can. I'm old, so they'll do genetic testing soon.

Congrats. I'm due May 18 with #3. Had an internal and saw my little gummy bear. 9 wks 4 days measuring. We had a Barry fast strong heartbeat.
